Put a long rubber band around the outside. Cut the ringing by about 70%. Was going to put it more toward the bottom edge but it wanted to slide off. I may put a second one on. .......

On this turntable, the platter just sits on the drive wheel. It lifts right off, because that's how you change to 45rpm: pull the platter and manually move the belt to the other drive pulley. ::: TOPI .......

Thanks for the idea! For some reason that hadn't occured to me. As it turns out I have some long rubberbands. If they are the right size I should be able to put one around the perimeter of the platter .......

I have a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon. Still using the stock felt mat and am thinking of upgrading. My primary concern is static reduction as it seems that I am getting some static. Sonic benefits would also .......

I had a nice 70w HK integrated for about 8 years before I went to separates. I replaced it with my current Rotel pre and a junk/salvage vintage 60w Marantz pwr amp and that setup absolutely walked all .......

Everything looks ok. My friend did the soldering with pro-grade gear and old-school silver solder with lead in it. I would have put the volume pot in at 90 degrees for wire clearance, but he had it .......

So that's how input sens is spec'd: volts for max power. Cool. I didn't know how to read it before. Thanks for that. My CD player outputs 2.2V and my phono outputs 1.8v. My DAC doesn't provide that sp .......

I don't know how much gain my amp has, or how sensitive it is on the input side. It's 125w rms with s/n of 95 dB. Speakers sens is 90 dB. Everything is sounding great at moderate levels with the pass .......

Actually, the clarity of the passive filters is nice. And they are dirt cheap. Since it sounds pretty good now I don't think I'll be changing my speaker setup for a while. That Hsu crossover does look .......

The Behringer crossover was a total fail. Inserted it in place of the passive Harrison Labs unit I'm using now. Very sure I hooked it up properly. Used high quality Mogami/Neutrik cables and Neutrik .......

Speakers are the one component where there is very little correlation between price and sound quality. With the electronics, generally you spend more and you get more, but with speakers, not so much. .......

I want to use the Behringer CX2310 to cross my subs at 44Hz, which is the lowest setting on the stereo 2-way crossover. But, as it turns out, the Behringer also has an undefeatable mono subwoofer out, .......

Jumped a couple of pins on the switch and it works normally now. My theory is that somewhere along the path the ground to the switch went bad, and my jumper re-established it. Thanks for putting me on .......

Completely enclosed. No gaps or anything. Only two TINY holes on top.... not enough for cleaner to get in to the contacts. Unlike the Rotel which was easy to clean with the cleaner. But the jumper wor .......

My solution has been to use cheap twisted pair interconect as a source for small color-coded wire. I had some old ones laying around, but they are about used up. It seems stupid to buy an interconnect .......

Check the fuse box. Dishwasher and stereo probably on same pole. Move breakers so that stereo is on opposite pole from heavy appliances, esp fridge and a/c. Might be able to put ferrite chokes on dish .......

For me, absence of tone controls (and balance) is a deal-breaker. I have a Rotel with defeatable tone controls. My system and room are pretty well sorted-out so the tone controls stay on "defeat" 99.9 .......

A lot of the times with the TOTL models you are paying for doodads and geegaws you don't need. The models 1 or 2 down from the top might actually spec the same. I have seen this in CD players and tape .......

At the time, 1991?, I sold mine because I knew 2 other guys with them and theirs both quit. Seems the lasers went out. I was able to trade the D-5 and $20 bucks for an original HK HD500. So I did it. .......

I would go with basic 2-channel stereo setup. I have always had bookshelf speakers and think they tend to image better. They also are easier to fit into your room (smaller, more forgiving about place .......

I guess it depends. My KEF C25 mini-monitors sound better upside down. I think it has to do with tweeter dispersion/blending with the woofer. .......

I always recommend the little Sony bookshelf speakers. The smallest has a 5.25" woofer and is pretty small (maybe 10" tall). I have a pair that I got for $40 used(I think they are $40 each new?). Got .......

I have always used bare wire. Oxidation may becomes an issue, just cut the tips back every other year or so. I also find it necessary to tighten the speaker binding posts rather frequently. But someti .......

I agree with the others. New tuners are usually pretty bad. Get an older one. I prefer digital so I didn't go back to the '70s. Yamaha made some very nice digital tuners in the 80's. Marantz too. BTW .......

I use 4-16, but I bi-wire with a double run of it for 10ga effective. Personally, I think 16ga is just about right, any bigger and you get skin effect and what-not. Use more runs(shotgun) if you need/ .......

I like the little 5.25" Sonys. Go for something like $50 each at Best Buy. I got mine used for $40/pair. My brother has an older 6.5" version. Voiced to sound bigger than they are so are not accurate .......

the 330b seems to be of the older nocturne design. it seems to have seperate left/right bass and treble controls and also pre-out/main-in jacks which the 330c seems to lack. power for the 330c is 20w .......

Like I said, it sounds really good now. I just felt the need to share my bummer first impression. I believe the speaker placement being wrong to be the reason it sounded bad though. .......

Do not get the NAD it is supposed to be crap! The 540p is really not highly regarded. Right now I also am leaning toward the LC-750. Hard to go wrong at that price. And I feel that it would be totally .......

From the website it appears that the new 750 is essentially the same as the 754 without the extra controls. I imagine they use the same basic layout. So how would u characterize the sound? You should .......
