Posted by Joonnaass on 2016-04-25, 00:57:14 (193.41.170.225)
I never had a problem with buzzing transformers in my tube amps, but I've tried a few high power transistor amps that had issues with buzzing transformers. These amps all had toroidal transformers and .......

Having just upgraded to the Karan I can't recommend it highly enough. It's definitely "dark sounding" if by dark you mean a complete lack of glare and harshness. The amazing thing with the Karan is th .......
4: Amp/Preamp Asylum, Response from the manufacturer regarding hum (0.00)
Posted by Joonnaass on 2013-07-31, 04:17:06 (193.41.170.225)
I wrote an email to Audio Analogue asking them about the hum. Their response was that there were two possibilities. Old transformers (the amp is 12 years old) or DC on the power line. Since the DC tra .......

I was having some serious transformer hum issues with an Audio Analogue Maestro amp that I'm currently trying out at home (the hum couldn't be heard through the speakers, it came directly from the amp .......

I've just been given a Lorenz e88cc where the getter has come lose from the support and is rattling around in the bottle. It currently sits nicely at the top of the getter support structure and I doub .......
7: Tubes Asylum, RE: Is there another 12AT7 I should be using now? (0.00)

After trying most of the top rated 12at7's out there I have to say that there is little that would improve on the HF extension and air of your TFK ecc801s. The one tube I'd recommend if you want more .......

I'm sure that the high-end VRDS units are indeed very good drives (at least the ones I've auditioned have worked great as transports), but the more basic ones are perhaps not quite as impressive. I be .......

I'm still evaluating 12at7's (I've got just over 30 different once to go through so it will take a while...), but I thought I'd chip in with some preliminary observations. Siemens e81cc 3mica - there .......
