I agree that the testers definitely need to be more rigorous in the design of their experiment. I'm not so worried about it being double blind, as I am concerned about the results being misinterpreted .......

I've had the TOC problem on and off since buying my SA-8260 a few months ago. Unfortunately, I bought it on a trip to Japan, so there is no replacing it. For me, the problem has only arisen with Sony .......

I've had mine a couple months now and stand by everything I wrote in my review of it. It's a great machine, both on SACD and on Redbook. I still occasionally get TOC errors with Sony single-layer disc .......

You'll definitely need a step-down transformer. The SA-8260 runs hot to begin with. I'd be really concerned about shortening its life if you run it at 120V. Whoever you buy from in Japan should be abl .......

You need to get something like the iMic -- a microphone and line in to USB adaptor. They're about $45 from MacConnection, CDW, etc. Then record them as WAV or AIFF sound files and burn them to disc. - .......

I may be wrong about this, but on sources with opamp drivers, which is probably 99% of even high end CDPs, it should be very easy to modify the output driver to deliver 4V RMS. Just swap out the feedb .......

They do run hot, but Nelson Pass tends to design very conservatively, so I doubt that the devices are run anywhere near their limits. In most of his articles, he states his preference for a 10x margin .......

At that budget, I would go with a decent integrated amp. There are several nice ones in the $800-1200 range. I would, in particular, look at the Creek and the Audio Refinement line. I would not worry .......
