Yeap, happened to me with FEDEx on more than one occasion. I try to avoid using them but some vendors use them exclusively. Much prefer UPS or USPS. .......

I hear you. I am in a similar circumstance, friend passed away 3-4 years ago and his family has no interest in the stereo components he left behind. Sold a few items but the majority of them are still .......

The only rhodium plated connectors I like are Cardas, RCAs,. XLRs and power connectors. All others have that characteristics you mentioned. The Cardas plating have that perfect balance between the war .......

I live in the City also, with my apt facing the western sun I experience a +10F inside vs outside. I run an EL34(4) tube amp plus a CAT preamp, but during the summer I switch out the tube-amp for a SS .......

for my taste the Gold Lion reissue KT77 had the best balance soundwise in my system, punchy tight bass with slightly sweet mids and sparkling top end, not so good is the price. The cheaper JJ KT77 wer .......

If you are listening through the RCA inputs that is the sound of the RCA-input connectors. I had a loaner XLS1500 here for a week or two, and found that the sound is much improved using the XLR inputs .......

I replaced the volume pot in my CAT preamp, with individual mono pots, eliminating the balance pot...why? Cuz the original pot has huge steps which combined with the CAT massive 26dB line stage gain m .......

I wear 'glasses'...but have yet to hear a dramatic improvement in sound with removal. I hear differences with cables, isolation, etc...but the 'glasses' thing just eludes me. Bugger! .......

Forgot to add...in the comparison also featured a DIY NCore400 which bettered the Crown XLS across the broad sound spectrum, just more 3D and refined. Of course the NCore cost 3-4 times the Crown 1500 .......

I have the 125W./8ohm, the 254 module with a beefed up power supply. While it does sound overtly 'warm', it doesn't sound 'tubey'. I have a couple Jolida amps that sounds anything but 'tubey'. I love .......

Yes, Gold Lion...It has better midrange and highs, better resolution, more tuneful bass...just a better tube than either the EH EL34 or EH 6CA7. I also have a Jolida 302/502, but extensively modified. .......

The Sovtek LPS has a lean sound compared to the reissue GL 12ax7, the GL has a sweet midrange and easy on the ear highs with full bodied bass, almost the opposite of the LPS. .......

Those GL KT88s are good, my choice for that family. Since my amp also takes EL34/KT77. I find the GL KT77 to be the ideal tube for my desired sound preference. Sticking with KT88...I had them matched .......

Yes, in MY system I prefer the croyed TS vs the croyed GL . I just got a super-croyed version of the TS to hear/see if it offers anything better over the regular croyed tube. YMWV .......

I believe they use the same circuit board, at least my 302(earlier model) has 302/502 printed on the c/b. So whichever one you decide on, aim for the upgraded caps...they made a big improvement in my .......

With your fairly sensitive (94dB) speakers, I would lean more to the 302, especially with a little tube roll, like using GL KT77 for power tubes. I think the 302 has a better midrange than the 502, an .......

Agreed, I have ventured beyond just the opamp rolling. The $300. DAC, Zhaolu 2.0 (built DAC, not a kit), also has 'socketed' opamps. Both DACs had/has electrolytic caps on the output(SS), same procedu .......

I got a 5-year old 102b, that I use on my mid and high drivers. Never had a problem, bias hold rock solid over months. I also have a custom rebuilt 302a which sometimes can be finicky with bias on one .......

Space is very tight in this DAC...it will have to be a very compact stepped atten. to fit in the 1 3/4" (or less)space betw. the front panel and the circuit board. I simply replaced the pot with a 25k .......

Its a 50K ALps pot, you can sub in an equivalent sized resistor to signal return/ground. Or, to keep it simple, just move the pot signal out wire(usually middle one on the pot) to the pot signal input .......

I think that is correct. I have the 565 which came out after the 555 model. Using the :LAB output and with the tone controls switched out, the signal is direct coupled from input to output with no cap .......

My CAT preamp has 10 tubes, 5 in the phono stage 5 in the line stage...its the quietest pre I ever owned. I get a slight 'shush' with the phono stage engaged, but you have to be ears up against the sp .......

The OP should observe his woofers as an LP plays, if you see the woofers pumping between the tracks, you can overdrive the amp in the presence of rumble in the signal...easy to blow a woofer with the .......

I use only the Mixed 2CH Audio out jacks. The Multi channel output jacks (L+R, etc)are routed via the internal multi channel processing unit which control all the different settings like channel level .......

1.5mv will make very little difference. You need a preamp with at least 10-15dB of gain to mate with the Jolida. No way around that. The CD player output is usually over 2v, which is sufficient to dri .......

Sounds like you need a line level preamp for the phono. the 302b needs a preamp to drive it for best sound. I have both a 102b and a 302. Its billed as an integrated, but a passive potentiometer is no .......

I have several Adcoms amps dating from 85-96, and all are still working perfectly. I also have a few Halfers of the same era...a couple have lost one channel but most are still able to pump the bumps. .......

the slower burn might solve your problem. Some of the CDs I have burned @20x begin to show playback problems after a year or two. Never did have any problems with the slower burned ones...4years and c .......

Yes. VMPS used to ship their subwoofer kits with such a crossover. Of course it was optimized for their specific woofers. You can probably use a "generic" crossover since its for sub duty. The Parts e .......

My Adcom 555 does that on shut down, its normal as the ps-caps are drained of its charge. Your Hafler probably have a muting or delay start circuit so you don't get that turn on thump or the "whining" .......

In the 4 years I had mine in use, I had to do that twice(reboot)...not sure what causes the erroneous readings, but if I had to guess....maybe it took a spike and got drunk. lol. .......

Did the caps upgrade myself...total cost of parts were around 155. I used 18K-MF/100VDC Panasonic GAA caps for the ps. And film caps for the ps bypass as per the 555II schematic. I didn't go for any f .......

I subbed in Sonicaps I for the input coupling caps on a couple of my Adcoms(555 and 545) and had the power supply caps updated, and now everything is now smooth as butta'. .......

Hah...sounds like you have circuits that either bypass the breakers or you got faulty breakers. Sounds unusual, but it happens often enough. A visual check of the panel with the cover off will reveal .......

The code does not specify "audio" only appliance, once the appliance are UL listed for 220/240V, then its to code. Appliance could be anything, a stove a tv, a stereo...whatever. .......

That's bordering on the ridiculous...any electrician can/would install a 220/240 outlet anywhere you want it. They do it all the time for AC units running on 220/240V. .......

Try using the old original outlet if its still active, or another nearby outlet. If you still have the buzzz, then you would have verification that its the equipment. If no buzz, then your problem lie .......

I have the 555 and the 555II, and I seem to prefer the original 555 over the 555II, the sound is warmer on the 555. The 555II has a slight hardness to the sound which I don't hear on the 555. I curren .......
