Sure it can. I used one for a while to drive 1.6rs. What you will find though is that A85 will limit what you can get from the LRS. A class AB amp that can double it's power output in a linear fashion .......

BTW, I can vouch for how good the Schiit Freya + vacuum tube preamp performs with Magnepans. I'm using a Freya + with a Pass Labs X150.8 and it is superb with my 1.6 and 1.7i Magnepans. .......

I have used that exact amp with 1.6s. It will work fine. When I switched from the A85 to a high power amp with a massive power supply (Krell FPB-200) however, the improvement in performance was nothin .......

I agree. The white capacitor in the 1.7 appears to be made by RTI from what I can see in that top photo. Apparently RTI was sold to API Tech in 2012. It does not appear that RTI audio capacitors were .......

These were not built by PG. When I built these I used the original 1.6qr Magnepan crossover topology, but with what I believe to be higher quality components and a much lower DCR inductor. In A/B comp .......

It's been a long time since I disassembled my factory 1.6s to reframe them, but I believe the black paper is mainly used as a cosmetic mask to hide the staples and metal frame. I seem to remember that .......

If your intentions are to cover the frames with the sock then the frames would not require finishing, which is a major part of the hardwood reframe project, so going with the proven hardwood construct .......

Good question. Unfortunately, with all of the changes going on at one time, I would have no idea how much the lower placement affected the sound if at all. The driver in the new frames is 2 inches low .......

As PG said, from what I remember reading in the past, planar speakers are not as prone to the negative effects of edge diffraction issues as cone drivers. Just the same, as part of a reframing project .......

My main advice; be sure you do not pull on the strip itself. Use a flat blade screwdriver and pry under the strip starting at the top and slowly work your way down letting the screwdriver do the work. .......

I listen at low levels quite a bit too. Since my 1.6’s are not modded, (I just started modding mine about two days ago) I think a lot of times they sound a lot more detailed and clearer with lower vol .......

Since swapping the crossovers seems to indicate a problem in one of the crossover boxes and you mentioned the previous owner cutting some wires, you might carefully check the wiring of the good unit t .......

I would say the panels are absorptive. They do have a hard frame around the edge, but probably the diffusion from that is minimal. I’ll no doubt experiment with some bass traps soon. Thanks for the su .......

For about the same money you should consider the Murano P-1000s. It’s based on the excellent B&O Icepower 1000ASP modules. They are the same modules used in the Jeff Rowland 501’s and the Bel Canto e. .......
