Is there any way to know if your 2441s or similar drivers need re-magnetizing? Also FWIW, I tried the TruExtent diaphragms in my 2441 drivers in Edgar salads bowls and preferred the OEM JBL diaphragms .......

I agree with others that should find a way to use 2 subs. Have you considered a vertical tapped horn? My subs only take up a 14" square footprint but are 7 ft tall and use a 12" driver! Not recomme .......

I would be inclined to not add a sub to the Valencias. I have a pair of Altec Flamencos that do OK without. My main speakers are another story. They use a diy front loaded mid-bass horn that rolls off .......

Never mind. I found a number "CR198B" stamped in ink on the back of the amp and this schematic is available. Evidently the console number for the whole assembly is different than the amp model number. .......

I measured tonight using AudioTools on my iPhone. I do see a peak at 125 hz on both the AC heated 2A3 and DC heated 2A3 monoblocks so I have to assume the larger component of the noise is at 120 hz. .......

If you are a builder, then my advice is to build a First Watt M2 clone. With chassis it will set you back about $600 to $700 but it sounds wonderful on a horn system. It comes close to my 2A3 monobloc .......

IME, the 45 will be enough and is a good fit for the midrange and upper range. However the 45 could not provide enough dynamics for my tastes even with my 100+ dB horn speaks. I like the JJ2A3 better .......

I found an old post where Bruce said the mouth of his 80hz FLH is 18.5" x 25". I don't know if that is external or internal. The math says you only need 428 sq in but Bruce's dimensions would yield 46 .......

Not sure what you mean by "continuous ground" for ICs. The IC's in this system are a combination of Cardas and DH Labs. When I build them I connect the shield if available on the input side of the IC .......

On the subject of power/volume/quality - A properly driven 45 DHT can drive my > 100db efficiency horn system to plenty enough volume but a 2A3 which has more power than I really need produces a more .......

Thanks for all the responses. I ended up buying Eminence Delta 12-LFC 4 ohm drivers for $99 each. That was the closest cross reference to the OEM driver, also made by Eminence. There was an Eminence .......

I've been down this road a few times. If you using a Lowther or AER driver, you are wasting your time IMHO if using anything other than a properly designed rear loaded horn, e.g. Medallion or similar. .......

Check out this cool little 9 pin teflon sockets with boards. The build quality is excellent and the board has 3 holes for each pin! Sockets are tighter than the standard sockets. Please don't bust .......

Don't know if this will help but I use small caps from each heater leg to ground (AC heating) on the 6n1p. Doing this and using grid stoppers for each grid (have to use 2 per tube for parallel use) y .......

Go for it, but AC will give you WAY too much hum. Try DC using Ronanregs or easier still a C-L-C-CMC DC supply. Easy to implement but takes up some space. Worked as well or better than Ronanreg for me .......

What I use is an Precision Power car crossover. You can find them at ebay for normally less than $100. PPI is a high end car audio company who makes good stuff. I think I paid about $200 in 90s new .......

If you have the stomach for it, a 26 cap coupled linestage. PS easy to design/build. Filaments take some extra care. And you need some kind of grounded shield around the tube. Have you tried S&B TVC .......

The amp they use is 500w/chan but I'm sure they don't need that kind of power for the Bose 800s and what they do. I can't say how low they could use but suffice to say less than what would be practica .......

Here's another suggestion. Try the 6n1p in parallel. One tube per channel. I like better than 5842, EC99, 6c45pi in my 45 interstage coupled amp. 6n1p also has twice the mu. I have not tried the 6H30. .......

I don't know what your problem is but FWIW I've been using TX-102s for volume control for over a year now and I can't tell much difference between the 0 and +6 positions and my system is very revealin .......

I like the panel on the door idea for reflections. Any idea how a rectangular bass trap made that is only 12" wide x 48" high but 4" or so thick might work in the corners. I may be able to make this w .......
