I confirmed the above with the Shure Era IV flute track--mistracking on the highest level with the SUT, hardly at all with the Zero. I tried the resonance test on the HFN disc and didn't hear any diff .......

We went there last summer on a visit. The Linear Tube electronics and speakers were hard to evaluate with the volume fairly low and they wouldn't play requests. We left pretty quickly. .......

I have a Shelter 201 that I run with a Jico SAS stylus. Vs the A&R Cambridge, the Shelter body makes the SAS shine. Just sayin if you wanted to upgrade the Shelter stylus later. .......

I've heard people have problems with fastening the wood bodied Grados (and other carts whose holes don't go all the way thru the bodies) to the RS-A1. You can use the rear holes in the headshell, but .......

There's a lot about JVC/Victor carts on the mammoth MM thread and elsewhere. If I recall, the X1 is considered better than the X1-II and Z1. I have a JVC 4MD-20X I got a few months ago. It's a keeper. .......

Right, the SAS-1 is what I use with the Shelter. I started with it in the Arcam, but now it's in the Shelter full time. The SAS for the M91ED also fits the Arcam and Shelter. .......

I'm exceptionally happy w/my 750L (12"). I've replaced the base with one from TTW (blown out before they went out of business). And I use Yamamoto headshells. But it makes the Koetsu Onyx sound awfull .......

My fave is the DL 103R PRO, from 2juki at $768. (Tho I never heard a Zu.) The midrange is still sweet as ever, but not at the expense of the frequency extremes. .......

The page says 500 hours before a retip, same as the older version. Not sure if they're just being conservative; they say this is 2-3 times longer than a standard stylus, which also seems very short. B .......

Glad it worked out for you. I'd agree with your assessment, especially of rhythm. One tip for when you need to replace the o-ring: sand it down for a long time--20 minutes or more to get it right. ::: .......

As I recall--it's been a long while since I had it in my system--the 320 was less lively, less full-range and full-bodied and somewhat tinnier than the two transformers I've got now--both in the US$10 .......

I used the 320 with a DL 103--my first high end cart around 10 years ago. Since then I've upgraded to Cinemags, Audtorium 23 and currently Slagle and S&B103 transformers. The 320 is a fine option, but .......

As I understand it voltage output is immaterial for PE mode, as it's an amplification of the current rather than the voltage. So, theoretically the XYZ would work fine with PE mode. Check the archives .......

Reading in the archives, the P-75 in PE mode is sweet with Dyna cartridges, not so great with others. It didn't do much for me with the DL-103. You didn't use it in PE mode? .......

I've used the KAB headshell weights--very reasonably priced, probably even with international shipping--to add weight on the 750D for both a DL-103D and SPU Royal N. Jelco sells a heavier counterweig .......

There are two holes coming in from the bottom of the headshell. That's it in terms of adjustability. And if you need to come in from the top of the cartridge body, you're SOL. .......

Could be done one-handed. There's a bolt sticking up from the pivot that the end of the armtube threads thru. Then the contacts on the end fit into holes in the pivot and you screw a nut onto the bolt .......

I've used the two before and they sound great together. The 3 and 40 ohm settings are actually 35 and 470 ohms, according to the late lamented Garth. I used the 3 ohm setting with both the 103 and 103 .......

The Artisan is the arm they carry, a Jelco arm spec'd by Ralph at Artisan. Comes with a fancy cable I believe, but considerably more expensive than the 750D, as I recall. .......

All I know is the soundstage is massive. Wildly dynamic, very detailed, inviting you deep into the music. It doesn't like surface noise much. And the DL-103 is much more forgiving of digital recording .......

and agree with Garth that the "3 ohm" setting works great with the 103R. Being a better cart, the R thru the 320 sounds better than the plain 103 thru it. .......

Tho that is not supposed to be critical with PE mode, which is just looking for a "low" output impedance as I recall. Unlike Scott Z, I couldn't get the P75 to sound good with the 103R in either PE or .......

The AQVOX works great with a 103R, tho I haven't tried it with a plain jane 103. My read of that review is that the SL-1200 arm wasn't a good match for the 103. .......

My system has gone thru changes in the last few months. First, I got a AQVOX 2CI, the German phono stage with balanced inputs and current gain for MCs. This replaced my Denon AU-320 step-up + MM phono .......
