For SS amps, I would add an amp or two from Pass from the Aleph series, and from his current line , 160.8, and the smallest 25-30 watter.... Superb. Also, more from Mark Levinson, 23/23.5, were superb .......

All great comments. In UL/PP mode, there is less power, but better adaption to speaker impedance variation than say a pentode design, but a pentode makes great power as do class B circuits with bifila .......

Any Yggy owners out there. I have had one 3 months, and the reviews by TAS and Stereophile are for real. It is a superb DAC. A very good value but give it 600 hours breaking in, and interconnects real .......

Eliabeth, You can use Maggie pins by Cardas, and they will allow your cable to slide right in the Maggie steel connectors, or you can just remove them, and put posts on the Xover like I did. Best, jal .......

Elizabeth, Bryston makes large spades which will work with Bryston posts, and fit in two 8TC cables. They just have to be soldered in. Bare wire oxidizes rapidly and degrades the sound. Silver solder .......

The answer is more complex and yes, power and sensitivity are very important, but that snap factor on drums, etc. is also determined by how well matched the damping factor of your amp is matched to yo .......

With a minor toe-in (10-16 degrees)there is little change, but with a severe toe-in as some like at 45 degrees or so, the bass loses focus, and is a bit muddy in my room. Try first in the room to see .......

The more you move them from the rear wall, the less the bass, but the deeper the stage. Toeing them in gives more focus, but the bass may suffer a bit. These things have to be dialed in over the next .......

With all due respect, I could not disagree more. First, what size of room are you getting 100dB from a Maggie? Second, in a moderate size room, you will be lucky to coax a maggie past 90dB with 40wpc .......

Deep bass is just not that important to everyone. A sub only helps if you want sub 50Hz info. or some kind of foundation for the music. Not all music has information down there. Vinyl doesn't venture .......

MY guess is that the 50wpc amp was distorting, and overdriven. I have used a 4BSST on the 3.6 and it was just now so effortless and dynamic. Thus, 50wpc or 100wpc into 4 ohms is simply just not enough .......

I think your reference to passive bi-amping is also known as vertical biamping. My preference is monoblocks or stereo. When amps are bridged, some are only good into an 8 ohm load, the maggies are 4 O .......

I agree with the 4BSST recommendation which is a good match, just read the review in soundstage by John Crossett on the match. I also use the Quicksilver Silver mono which also give a fuller sound and .......

I have posted several times the amps I have tried with the 3.6, and will spare the list in its entirety, and I still go back to the Brystons. I am currently using the Marchand XM44, crossed over at 40 .......

The caps are usually listed as +/- 5% or 10%, so the difference is likely not audible. What voltage rating are the stock caps? I would guess at least 200V-250V. Thanks, Jallen .......

I just tried the Sunfire CRW-2 and compared them to my 1.6 and the 3.6 I have, and in surround mode. They (CRW-2)are more efficent, and the tonal balance is very different. They are brilliant, excitin .......

The Maggy pins are great. I use them on my 1.6's and I use the post conversion on my 3.6. They will accomodate a large wire gauge which you need with the Maggy. Don't use cheap small gauge wire or you .......

Where did you measure? Did you measure each speaker at 1M using 1Khz as a reference point and everything compared to that, and did you measure at the listening position, and in different areas of the .......

The XM44 is very sensitive to changes inside. I re-wired it with Cardas 19.5 and the sound changed to a fat, slower sound and a midbass hump. I used 19.5 hookup wire. I removed it and installed silver .......

You might check the amp/preamp by switching by switching speaker leads and see if the sound follows them. If not then internally the speaker has an issue. Possibly a delamination of the panel internal .......

Some of the best recordings I hear on the maggie 3.6 are from an Acoustic Zen sampler CD and some RR recordings. Nothing does strings, especially plucked ones as well as the maggie ribbons...the speed .......

The stock Xover is barely adequate. It fits the budget range of the speaker, but you can do much better active. Try the Marchand XM44, and as much as I like Mac gear get Bryston 4BSST or 14BSST or lat .......
