No kidding. How is it possible? The record had to be paper thin or from Salvador Dali's pressing plant. The ring should be used with stainless steel weight and nothing between record and platter. Also .......

I don't remember if it was the case on my old HW-19, but it looks like ball bearings are pressed-on on the newer TTs and Single/Dual Motor Flywheels. BTW, check the polishing job on platter (L) and f .......

Interesting. I have to admit that I have never used Last #5 (Stylast) preservative. However, I am curious how Stylust prevents "baked" vinyl deposits caused by melting heat of few tons of stylus press .......

Mondial, The instructions are from HRX manual; however, it applies to all VPI motor/flywheel combos. Many VA posters confirmed the trick worked for them allowing smooth start-up of a platter. Just use .......

Right you are. SDS is meant to work with many AC motors. However, the voltage settings are dependent. I am sure there may different settings for 600 RPM, 300RPM, single motor, single motor/flywheel o .......

Cannot tell exactly except it's a bit thicker than an average household thread. My nylon thread belt runs for two years with no signs of stretching or frying. Sonic advantages aside, it saves few $$$ .......

Yes, a high gain, low noise phono, especially tube based are hard to find. Some tube phono designs use combination of SUT and tube gain stages. IMO, this is lesser evil as I would rather have a small .......

I had a chance to compare two TT Weights record clamps to VPI one piece, stainless steel 1.5 lb center weight. The heavier TTW required a small speed adjustment in order to make a fair comparison. .......

Thank you. Purchased a new VPI Classic to use with my SDS... The dealer obviously is not familiar with SDS startup voltage which is dependent on TT's motor, hence my remark regarding reading the SDS .......

My guess would be that rubber feet and o-rings are "safer" options from selling point of view. Stock versions of spiked or coned motors or TT decks have limitations as many people place their equipmen .......

Thanks, Actually the biggest improvement of my VPI deck I got was from swapping the rubber(y) belt with a (pre-stretched) nylon belt. The belt remains in the same shape/size for 1.5 years and counting .......

If the TT maker wanted to use a mat on a few $$$k design, most likely it would be included. Using a mat on 'mat-less' TT design will alter the sound; it will be different, but not the way the designer .......

ProAc R1 have 5" polypropylene-cone woofer. What was the size of the cones on the 96 dB speakers you used? I am asking this as 5" drivers cannot push much air with 9 Wattas or 90 Watts. I just hope PS .......

They should work very well, as Gordon mentioned depending on the room size AND your listening distance. 86 dB at 1 meter is fairly loud; and that's with 1 Watt! I have been using ProAc Response 3 with .......

The clip pictured with DV Karat 13D3 is Cardas. However, Moerch clips are similar tough different size (a bit shorter) and they can be crimped after soldering; something that can prevent potential .......

You should consider the motor/flywheel an essential upgrade for VPI Aries. Though it's far from being cheap, it's worth every penny. You won't regret it! .......
