I'm sorry, but if I want to listen to speakers, I can listen to a clock radio, I like the live presentation of the insturmention I get, I don't listen to the speakers, they just dissapeer ! :) ::: TOP .......

Davey, I find being close you only get 80% off the cd, lost through compression, the further you move away, the more you get back, the missing 20% fills in, just my findings, kind of works like EQ :) .......

yours look like the early model before 6-73, I had them as well, mine the panels delaminated, at the time there was no way to fix, some owners had problems with blowing the IN4007's transformers are t .......

My cat climbs my 2+2 acoustats and sleeps on top them, cloth doesn't look so good,even though shes declawed, she has no problems outdoors, she'll even sit up on them when their playing music, and only .......

Well I don't find them any worse than a Magnepan, a lot of the amps people are using here, will drive them just fine, UNLESS your death of course. I listen to mos music around 75 db :) .......

I'm running my T4'a now with my Apogee Diva Dax biamped , they are awesome speakers, very good bass as well, I use H20-250 on bottom and Krell KSA-80 on the top or Carver 4.0t. You'll be a happy liste .......

Not sure if you know this or not, the 1-4 ohm version can be wired to 1 ohm as well, I've had both and think the 1-4ohm had a slight tad better bass, otherwise all the same, also if you listen at 60 t .......

Looking at the pics, Id be very concerned about where they came from, note top above mid tweeter, the damage not repaired well, the bass panel beside it with wrinkles. I'd have to do a visual inspecti .......

GL, leave the side vertical clamps alone, no need to fool with them, the top and bottom clamps are a tad loose :) and can be removed and foam replaced :) .......

Davey, If I remember correctly Olaf removed the clamp and lifted the ribbon enough to do the backside, tilted on an angle and let the silicone flow down along the kapton to the bottom, has to be done .......

I have Diva's, Stages, Duetta Sigs and Scintillas and prefer the Scintillas overall, I power them with the H20-S250, other amps I have that worked well were, Bryston 6b monoblocks and Krell KSA 80 and .......

I sometimes wonder about the cable aspect of things, open up you amp and preamps and other sorces and look whats in them for wire. most cables are altered if some fashion or another just to make them .......

I had my smga in a 34x80 room and they sounded good, no problem with output at all, they sat in 20' from front wall and 15' apart, they had good bass as well. They need room to breathe :) .......

Like E-stat I try and use the 3rds as well, but I divide the room width by 4 and set the speakers on the outer 1/4s and angle them with a square to my listening position and tweak from there. ::: TOP .......

I'd like to try the foil trip on my 2b's tweeter, clean the area spotless and glue the foil down, laying should be quite simple, make a ali jig width of foil and and roll it down,, wonder if magnepan .......

Hey,, it all depends on who builds the icepower amps,,most are light weight garbage ,,I have H2O audio built icepower,,,and they don't even get warm driving my Scintilla .7 ohm load. :) you get what y .......

As long as the outside of the rca don't contact the center pin there should be no short, But you could get hum, just make sure center sleeve is over the pin. .......

Davey, I suspect they run a low voltage rail of 20v or less, similar to the old BK's of ancient, they put out 150 amps a current, all current little voltage and they ran cool on Sintilla's 1 ohm load. .......

I just set up the SMGA in my 34x80' room 10' apart and 10 ft out from front wall, measured pink noise at 97db at 1 metre, 70' back 89db, not to shabby for a small maggie, on music the sound was fairly .......

I split a room a while back and tried a 1 ft angle on the wall from front to back, was total waste a time, did nothing. Maybe it take's more angle, for me not worth the extra expense of the extra work .......

I'm tend to agree with PG on this, When I raised the SMGA a ft higher they increased soundstage quite considerably in a large 34x80 ft room, they out preformed the RS1B's other than base, they worked .......

Well I combined a set of MG2B with no mid tweeter wires on panel with a set of Smga, total cost of 400 bucks, did a few mods on smga, the 2B are used as bass panels 500hz down the smga are used as .......

Scruffy, I use Obligatto gold supreme in all my systems 630V, also use the Vishy Roderstein caps also, never have I had a issue with them, check your wiring first, if all is good and proper, swap out .......

I have Acoustat 2+2's and they have no problem with the 27hz bass guitar string at all, small rooms will kill the bass due to compression, they have to breathe, their just as good as my Apogee's, just .......

I don't think Maggies were ever made to play over 100db, if so they would a put real magnets in them, with big power you just heat up the wires and slowly fry the resistance out of them till they get .......

I think EQ is a good thing, for years I eq'd my systems flat, really made a big difference in the sound, better imaging, better soundstage more complete. I found most speakers are not as flat as peopl .......

Personally I myself would have a hard time letting the Full Ranges go. I grab a CJ 8a or AR D250 and use it on the upper end and keep best of what you have for bottom. Always remember " it's very diff .......

The M700 uses a B&O ice power module, BUT I think it only doubles to 4 ohms, it's 350w at 8 ohms. My ice 250 with analog supply doubles to 1000w at 2 ohms, so it may have something to do with the smps .......

Sorry Dave, I've had these running now for 7 hrs and thier in my 2500 sq ft room and their barely warm, can hold tubes lol, tranys barely get warm, get more heat out of my Thresholds. .......

Talking about amps for MMG, I have SMGa's , I just got a set of SC150 tube mono blocks, 150w @4 ohm, beautiful sounding, transparent, no colored sound like a lot of tube amps, and above all, no hiss o .......

Timm, what is the size of the room? I find all rooms that are 3 to 4" over the foot sound far better, the room calculator relates to this as well for room modes, echo can be far less than a room on th .......

My custom built frame takes care pretty much of all those problems, done some compression mods on frame to dampen the panel and expel unwanted resonances, added another tweeter to get 6000 up flatter .......

You may have a problem with the doubled sided tape, I used the 3M stuff doing my electrostats and it let go after a few minutes, slowly unstuck itself, now that was a 3/16 pull on 4'. .......

I never turn my amps off either, other than when I change things around, it's better for the caps as they never have to drain and recharge, keeping charged means long life. .......

I was looking at a Grant Fidelity Rita 880, it's 45w classA, I know a Krell 50w classA will run my 1 ohm Sintilla with ease to about 100db spl peaks, some claim tube watts are more powerfull than SS w .......

I have Diva's, Scintillas, Duetta Sigs, and Stages, My fav, Scintillas, simplicity at it's best, do require a decent amp to drive them, Diva's are a real pain in ass to set up properly, and midrange r .......

One thing Acoustats do well is beam like crazy at high levels, I also noticed this on the MG2B's as well, powered by various SS amps, for whatever reason the H20 seems to remove the beaming to a huge .......

Satie, Both tweeters are 5.4 ohms, both bass are 4.9 ohms, Hooked the bass up full range, sound is pretty dam good, took the to 105 bd at 1 meter, very little distortion, no green or any signs of dama .......

Update, I started with the driverack and switched 2 my crown vfx2a, easier for me to work with :). I found best xo point to my liking to be around 2k, I increased gain on the tweeter 3db for better eq .......

I also had T 1D's back in 85, I didn't think they were that great, I wouldn't spend that amount on them. jmho . I later got 3.5R's they didn't impress me either. Been away from maggies for about 10 .......

I bought my Acoustat 2+2 new, they have the medalions, for many years I hated them, took big amps to get any kind of output from them, sound was dead, no life in them at all, no matter what amps I use .......

JL I put a layer of foam along the inside of the cover separating the MRT from the bass panel. that stopped it and my mrt doesn't move at all anymore regaurdless of volume. .......

I tried many slopes on the driverack and found 48db LR got me to mid 400hz but didn't sound good, if the ribbon wasn't glued to the foams it would fly outa the magnetic slot, can't see a free hanging .......

The later 1-4 ohm ribbons were 1 wire top and bottom, the ribbons don't have the cut in top and bottom like the 1-4 version .......
