I have a set of Monarchy SM-70 pros with a Luminous Axiom Passive Preamp. The Monarchys have high gain so a passive is ideal for it. I think with this type of passive the sound is better after you tur .......

I had that Music Hall cd player with an Arcam A65 plus and JM Labs Chorus 706 (titanium tweeter) and it sounded very dynamic. That combo had punchy bass and the sounds had a solid quality to them. Kar .......

I think you need some kind of dock to get a line out. If you want a good inexpensive preamp try the Luminous Audio Axiom. $156 with the upgraded resistor. Only 1 input but it has excellent sound. ::: .......

If you want cheap get an old Sony SAWM40. 120 watt active subwoofer that got great reviews. It retailed for $200 when new but you can probably get it for $100 used or on closeout(these were discontinu .......

I just got my VHAudio Pulsar ICs and while hooking them up to my AXIOM preamp I discovered that the inputs on the amp are reversed. The RCA input with the red label(input A) is actually the left input .......

Go into the menu and go all the way down. The firmware is off the screen. As for flashing it go to AVSforum.com and do a search for 963 firmware. The latest authorized versions should come up in that .......

Get the Arcam A65. 40wpc of detailed, and spacious sound. Its a bit on the warm side and it needs a power cord to bring out the best bass but it sounds great for the price. $599 new or around $400 use .......

In my experience MFSL cds tend to push the vocals to the back of the soundstage, raise the bass, and push up the surrounding instruments. Some sound great as in Nirvana's Nevermind and Isaac Hayes' Ho .......

Actually when I refoamed them, the previous owner had the wire wrapped in insulation, which I neglected to replace. The buzzing seems to come from right below the tweeter. It sounds more like a fizzy .......

Get a nice NAD HT receiver and some PSB Alpha 2B's. That should make a decent HT and Music combo, you wont regret purchasing and they should be within your budget. .......

I heard them in my local hifi store and they sounded so smooth when they were paired with a tube amp. Go back to the dealer and see if you can hear them with tubes. Good Luck!!! .......

Dont know if this is redundant but try this: Remove the stylus guard and place the weight at the end of the arm. Turn it a little until it stays on. Lower the tonearm to the space between the platter .......

I experienced the same thing with that disc and others. Do the swifts have metal tweeters. My Jmlabs Chorus 706 have inverted metal dome tweeters. They sizzle once in a while with different music. Yos .......
