Sorry, my mind is going in a new direction. I do think I would like to try an unshielded power cable. My 12" Tone arm is separate from the motor by a large, solid, wooden plinth, so I think I can keep .......

Would it make more sense to buy a Venom3 and just cut off the end? Would that be a higher quality cable? I don't know enough to make the comparison -- I just know that the Venom3 gets recommended fre .......

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't the 301 run with even greater torque at 220 V / 50 hz? If so, wouldn't that be an argument in favor of regenerating the power to the original UK specifications. ::: .......

So I finally got a new pulley for my 301 and took it to a machinist to be turned down on a lathe. The issue, for those who don't know, is that almost always when you buy a new 60 hz pulley from ebay, .......

When I sanded it down by hand, I think it really was fine. I mostly just worried that it wasn't. The only thing a machinist would clearly provide is peace of mind. Not a negligible thing, though, so .......

Frequency is the main determining factor, but voltage is still a significant factor. The best place I know of for information on the motor is in the link below .......

Someone feel free to correct me, but I believe the Denon 102 is a true mono but with a .7 mil tip so it won't damage stereo records. Some people think that the 1 mil tip does make an improvement. ::: .......

Switching to the Uwe Wood body certainly did not make my cartridge brighter. I suspect that the SS re-tip would have done the brightening. I am a huge fan of the Uwe body and strongly recommend it, a .......

I definitely got an improvement, although not as much of an improvement as going from P3 to P5 or from the regular Denon 103 to the Uwe Wood body 103. I think everything was just a little less blurred .......

For the record, I'm using a Shindo Montrachet -- EL34/40 Watts. Truly, a beautiful, wonderful sound-making machine. I believe all Shindo amps have tub-rectified power. .......

So, the transformers on my Shindo amp make this high pitched noise sometimes. The noise comes from my amp, not from the speakers. My dealer has never heard of this happening with one of his amps and w .......
