If you are using a 3K cathode resistor, you can use a 22uF Solen or oil cap and your -3db will be around 2.4Hz. With a 10uf you are at around 5Hz. Tom .......

I don't think you need to use DC on the heaters to have a quiet linestage. The 6SN7 is an indirectly heated tube and unless the amp you are running has a very sensitive input, meaning it only takes a .......

HI JanMan, You can check those wires with your ohm meter. You should get continuity to something, hopefully the heater taps. Usually, heater CTs are the same color as the other leads but with a stripe .......

I'm betting you have wirewound humpots that are might be around 100 ohms. Since the wiper slides across the wires inside the pot, you won't have completely continuous adjustment like in a carbon pot, .......

If you can get by with a little less voltage and raise the value of your first cap a bit, Ned at Triode has an ST-70 replacement that might do the trick. There's always NOS or pulled PTs at Surplus Sa .......

just like Ralf said. That gives us 0.7v * 2.4A = 1.68W and a .29 ohm resistor. You won't find that one so you could just use the .25 ohm with no problem. I like Ralf's idea of using pairs of 3 watters .......

You only need to calculate for the voltage that the resistors need to drop, in your case 0.6 volts. Plug into ohms law- 0.6*2.4=1.44 watts. That's a steady draw so you might want to multiply by around .......

A common cathode resistor will not do any harm to the tube. Is the socket tight on the tube pins? Other than that, since you know your plate resistor is passing voltage, just not dropping any as it sh .......
