I've done this replacing the belden copper which was tarnished gold with bare 21 gauge ccc with success. The key is making a staight consistent cut along the length of teflon which was damn near impos .......

I just measured voltage at my speakers terminals with a volume of 93 dB spl at listening position and get numbers varying from 6.3-7.7 volts. Assuming the Merlins have a relatively flat 8 ohm impedenc .......

I have the same station, I'm not sure what wattages corresond to what number on the dial but a setting of 3.5 works well for Eichmanns. It's important to use a heatsink of some kind on the plug, I use .......

Many speakers use spade type clips to fasten the internal speaker wire to the binding posts. It is very easy to remove the binding post plate from the speaker and relocate the spades from the backside .......
