I found the stock tubes in my Paramours to carry the musical line better than some TJ 2.5V 300Bs. Rythym and pace was better and emotional content of vocalists more clearly revealed. G .......

I'm no expert but I think that since there is so little power in our amps output there is no need for all that much copper to transmit the signal. Also, I recall some more knowledgible person saying .......

I've used Cat5 E (teflon) as speaker cable but prefer magnet wire in simple twisted pairs: two wires per speaker. I use 16AWG wire from the Paramours to the Theater 4 Pi speakers. Great separation of .......

Doc Bottlehead and Paul Joppa are the foremost proponents of Parallel feed that I know of. Mike at Magnequest makes great if a bit pricey parallel feed OPTs and chokes. Bottlehead is a primary retail .......

That's pretty much what I did with my Foreplay I. I had built a Love Kitten and didn't care for it but the B7ed Foreplay is sweet IMHO! See Volt Second's headphone amp in the community pages for a sch .......

I've clipped them in in parallel with the grid leak resistors of the 2A3 and alternatively with those of the 76 drivers. Didn't care for the sound on the 76's and the sound with them on the 2A3s was .......

I remembered that I had run the 2A3's grid leak resistor to the cathode of the 76 ala Volt Second's "cathode mod". Is it OK to hook up the grid choke in the same way or should I run them to ground. O .......

The 76 is all about refinement and openess. Great bass and maybe a bit soft on the highs but in my system that's good. Very "Musical" and gets acoustic instruments just right, ie. strings, woodwinds, .......

I'd stick with the stock 2A3s. The 12AU7s affect the sound more per $. I like the RCA clear tops but have had others I like as well with different attributes. For fun, just start collecting used tube .......

My Heath AA-111 amp was "ho hum" before rebuilding with new poly PS caps, tin coupling caps and Dale metal films and power resistors. Now I love the amp! I understand those who recommend keeping these .......

I tried biamping my Theater 4's with my Heathkit AA-111 EL-84 amp and bottlehead Paramour 2A3's. I can't say the outcome was that great. I used the crossover from the 4's passively and got sound sligh .......

I recall a similar sound as you describe with the two amps. I'd describe the sound of the Decware as "whiter" with a smaller, tighter image but with good detail. -More what a good SS amp sounds like a .......

My guess on the distortion is that you are driving the amps too hard. The Dynaco A-25's are fairly inefficient in the mid 80's dB, I think. I can get my Paramours to distort playing my Pi Theater 4' .......

The Hovlands were the first up-grade I added to the Foreplay. They originally sounded great. It's just in the dual stereo output that they sounded poor. I have no idea why. I know the Auricaps beat ou .......

I just swapped out the 2.2uF Hovlands which did not sound good at all in my now passively biamped system and put in a pair of4.4uF Clarity caps and have been rewarded with excellent sound. Maybe a tad .......

They are fairly small bass reflex speakers with an efficiency rating around 96dB 1W/M. The even smaller bookshelf sized 2 Pi's with same drivers and efficiency sounded great with my 2A3 amps! A steal .......

Hi Steve, sounds like a bad ground somewhere. Since you just transported the amps look under the hoods of them first, at all the solder joints. try different interconnects to or at least switch them .......

You may be right! I seem to recall that new 2's come with a small coil. I think the specs from Eminence who makes the woofer may have changed since I made my friends pair. It's still a minimal obstruc .......

Any suggestions about the cause and remedy for an intermittantly buzzing OPT? I suspect the problem originates with digital dirt coming in through the wall socket since the noise turns on and off most .......

As far as comparison to your Wanaglows, I'd say that the gap is distinctly closing. The sound last night was more refined but a bit thread bare in a way. I bet this will enrich a bit with break in. Yo .......

In the only post in the archives I could find describing the wiring of the two OPT's in series shows the 4 ohm taps connected in series to drive an 8 ohm load. Is there no way to wire the two for 4 oh .......

The C4S manual calls for 155 VDC which is what worried me. I searched the forum and found your post "Don't mess with it..." where you recommend target values of 200V on B6 and 300V on the strip ahead .......

I've used 30 awg silver wire in teflon spaghetti tubing for interconnects and haven't heard better in my system. I just tried the same as speaker wire between the Paramours and the Theater 4 Pi's and .......
