As already noted, XO point/slope plays a big part in the woofer's/speaker's 'tone' to the point where even a 500 Hz/2nd order XO is high enough for folks to hear the difference between a 416's and 515 .......

Double check GPA, but IIRC the 21184 and suffixes were 416-8B. It's been so long since I rotated my four mid 50's 515Bs, I don't recall what's stamped on them. Note too that these driver's specs chan .......

......and why I've periodically noted that I knead/massage them to literally take the starch out of them till they sound smooth to me. If you over do it you can either use hairspray or spray starch or .......

The 605 came much later as a cheaper version of the 604, so used the 'weak' motor 803/416 with the 804/806 HF driver. This can be confirmed by looking at marketing data sheets as the 604 will have a ~ .......

No clue about the Knight, but it's my understanding that the LS12 has near enough specs to the LT12, so if all three are 'close enough', little wonder it underwhelms as it wants to 'feel' a baffle air .......

You brace every panel and tie them all together so the cab can't 'breathe' and for an 825 cab + bracing, added mass set on top calculated out to around 246 lbs, so drlowmu's experiment gives some idea .......

Absolutely, if you insist on wanting to block the rear wave without loading the driver. As I said though, stuffing it until it's ~aperiodic will damp out the pipe resonances. For many folks this will .......

As already noted or implied, only the early 802 and its 808 variant can load properly down to 500 Hz on a 511 with all others needing at least 800 Hz for decent power handling, especially for prosound .......

You're welcome! As I said, M19 components, so same XO, drivers, though the 416-8C will work in even a smaller sealed cab than the 416-8B based on OEM specs, though I always recommend one make the bigg .......

That's what folks say, though I've never seen any old Bell Labs or WE docs that spelled it out as such, at least WRT to its original purpose. All I've ever seen published is that it's only recommended .......

If a driver works well in a vented cab, it will, but with a relatively high Fs, low Vas and Qts, you'll need a matching impedance amp just to get it down to Fs ~flat and with GM .......

Well, except for its Vas spec it otherwise has vintage specs, so a Jensen Ultraflex is doable with a vintage Fs tuning/bass 'bloom', but at only ~4.1 ft^3 it will need to be a 'lowboy' to get the prop .......

Don't know. This cab is from a 1950 Olson magazine article Freddy posted some years ago and AFAIK was still being marketed into the '60s as the LS11 consumer speaker for the LC1 driver, which BTW isn' .......

Yes, TC used 1" thick material. FWIW, I dug up my driver's measured specs and they calc a slightly shorter, considerably larger Sm than TC's, but plan to use the same folded height to maintain the dri .......

Right. Well, with low Xmax/low power rated drivers you want the horn to load to at least an octave below Fs, so if you don't know your driver's Fs, then LIB rules (longer is better), so Caveat Emptor .......

The N-800-D has a 1st order on the woofer, so 8 ohms drops it in half to ~400 Hz to shelve the combined woofer's excess HF gain to get them to ~ blend to the horn same as a single 16 ohm woofer. Well, .......

I've got a buddy with a problem hearing dialogue clearly, especially with multi-channel (even just stereo on some mixes), so mono would be my recommendation which you don't need HE for. Wide BW ('FR') .......

It's a ~maximally flat alignment tuned to ~32 Hz which will tend to sound as you describe unless well away from any walls, corners in a fairly large room, so I recommend blocking off one or two vents .......

There are any number of optimum cab volumes based on the driver's specs, any additional series resistance from the amp, wire, or passive components with the largest cab probably being a little bit big .......

Well, the horn's rated 500 Hz with a 2nd order XO, so its -24 dB point is 125 Hz and working back up at 6 dB/octave takes us to a 2k Hz/1st order. All this assumes a prosound app though, so for home u .......

Yes, with the caveat that the cuts ideally need to be at a 45 deg angle. Back when I used a handsaw though, I didn't bother if they weren't visible, instead filling the seam with a glue/sawdust mixtur .......

Greets! Depends on how loud you listen just like with any other speaker type, but many BIBs have 95-100 dB half space efficiency, so in-room near/at a wall or especially in corners as they were design .......

I agree, any audible reduction in distortion is moving in the right direction even though I didn't hear any difference with the only PP sub I built, but not everyone feels as we do. Loud is Beautiful .......

Greets! IIRC, the Onken was designed specifically for the 416-8A driven with a fairly high output impedance amp using the Ultraflex's basic cab design. Regardless, the corner reflex is tuned to ~35 Hz .......

Greets! Note that if losing ~2 dB of efficiency is OK, then you can add 1 ohm series resistance to get the -8C to 'fill' the cab, then reduce the vent area to ~18.1"^2 to flatten it out and shelve the .......
