Ok. I'm going to show my ignorance. Doesn't a mu of 38 mean that you will get a "voltage gain" of 38 when you use either a CCS or a choke on the plate? .......

Will the Edcor interstage transformer work as I have it in this schematic? I have it reversed to get a 600:2.4K ohm configuration and I have it cap coupled on the primary to keep DC out of the wind .......

Sorry but when it comes to power cords, assuming the conductor is large enough to carry the load, wire is wire. You are wasting your time and money. Buy some good "SO or SJ" type 14/3 conductor and us .......

I would have about 1.8v at the cathode of the gain stage then. That is workable. Using 20K resistors would be easier and the difference should be negligable . Thanks Paul. I whish I had read your post .......

Hi Paul. I looked at Volt Second's site at the PDMPS article he wrote and it shows about 160v plate supply so I'm in the ball park on my supply design. The 5.3mA figure is per channel I assume. Thanks .......

Hi Eric, For monoblocks you would need to change the 75 ohm resistor to 150 ohms and change the 4.7K resistors(or resistor in this case) to 2.5k. If you decide to only use one choke then substitute o .......

With the high plate load on the 5687 because of the plate loading choke there is no need to bypass the cathode resistor to lower the plate impedance. So I was able to eliminate the distortion causing .......

I've found that while no question, honestly asked, is stupid, some of the answers you will get are:).The B+ represents the 320 volts for the power stage while the b+ represents the lower 170 volts for .......

It was suggested that a string of LEDs under the cathode of the 5687 would be the best way to bias it. I have never tried fixed biasing nor using LEDs in that way. It will be a while before I build th .......

It sounds like you have the connections wrong between the C4S and the plate of the 12AT7 on both amps. I have never built the kit so I can't tell you specifically where you went wrong. You should have .......

I think you mean full wave. I've never seen an amp wired with a half wave setup. There should be two diodes and two secondary windings on the transformer. The centertap of the transformer secondary is .......

3 watts would be acceptable. I'm using a SE EL84 amp (not a ZEN) with a pair of Fostex full rangers. They can get plenty loud with 2 watts so three or four watts will not be a problem. I was over look .......

I've never built one of these kits (yet) but the safety ground and the signal ground(the one off of the main PCB) and a chassis ground should all connect together with individual wires at the negative .......

It really only has one cap in the signal path. An electrolytic. Yuck. Unfortunately it's a 150uF electrolytic. I don't get why so much capacitance is needed on the input of the amp but that's what is .......

All they are saying is that you can only put 12 watts or 15 watts of power to them. Power is Voltage x Current. Figure out how much current your circuit is putting out and divide 12 or 15 watts by tha .......

Usually replacing the stock caps with high quality ones is a good place to start. Also you might want to try to replace the rectifier diodes with something like the UF4007. Make sure of what the specs .......

The headphones will be either Sennheiser HD580's or 600's. With a SPL of 97db at 1mW even 50mW would be plenty to drive these headphones. G .......

Take it to a sheet metal shop that has a "drop shear" to get the plate size and squareness that you need. I'm not sure about the punches though. As far as the square hole for a drop in tranformer goes .......
