I think there are programs which record which hour and which day someone, other than the answering machine, picked up a call. Then, sell this info to companies --- so they can call you at those times. .......

As you know, the studio engineers purposely heavily compress the sound --- esp the guitars --- as that is part of the "Heavy Metal" sound. The only time this style of albums seem to have any breadth o .......

I would think, as long as the impedance matches are good --- for both low-level or high-level amp to sub --- overload distortion should not be an issue. A lot of powered auto aftermarket subs run off .......

Todd, eyes can sometimes be deceived by wrong points of reference. If you look at the original photo, I think YouTube's video timing marks, at the bottom act as horizontal reference for your eyes. .......

Usually keeping unit on will help the electrolytic cap's MTBF. Except when the unit tends to run hot, which I think this Classe amp has a reputation. Heat is any capacitor's worse enemy. .......

Go to great lengths, about proper warm-up time, before putting these engines into "combat mode." Longer warm-up for the diluted oil, to burn off that gas, I guess. Thanks1 .......

Yes. A heavily modded Fender amp is near worthless on the open market. A proper restored-maintained tweed era amp can go for $10K, sometimes more. I have only one woody-era amp (1946-49). A nice 1948 .......

I'd prolly go to dual 5U4GB. Current draw is 3-amps for both. In old tweed Fender Bassman 5E6 amps, that used that setup --- the dual 5U4GB last longer. At least in my experience. I use NOS US made 5U .......

I've only used the Pope 6V6GT gray-glass tubes. I bought a new pair about 20 years ago. These were as good as the gray-glass, black plate Sylvania and RCA VT-107A, IMHO. .......

They fill the room more evenly. Really, make imaging of mids and highs better. If I turn my subs off, I first notice a loss of focused music. Not loss of bass. 8^) .......

BTW... you only need to have the voltage meter device plugged into the same line as where you plug your amp. All AC outlets off the same circuit breaker line are in parallel and reflect the same VAC. .......

Do you have a way to safely check the outlet AC voltage? My guess is the line in question (the one that causes the amp to hum) may have some big current draw on it, elsewhere in the house. Like an air .......

Took some close-ups of my 103R on the Sony SH-135 headshell. You can see I put the aluminum washers on top. Dunno were I found those nice knurled nuts... they sure help make aligning easier. EDIT: .......

The AR is so well made, I wish they had adjustment for GAIN and some tone controls. Full schematics comes with the unit. However, I know if you start messing with one part of a circuit, you very well .......

This is a very nice cartridge. Shibata goodness on a good generator, for sure. Sounds sweet right out of the box. Pretty easy to align. I used the dimensions of the Hana ML setup to approximate the AT .......

I put the NAD back into the mix. The AR is just too much gain and brightness. It is very clear... maybe to a fault. Certainly catches your attention, right away. But, "solid-state fatigue" sets in aft .......

I'm having a little difficulty visualizing the issue. Once you get one side snugged up to the cartridge --- the other side will align the cart, so that the nuts and bolts should line up straight .......

Initial response = better separation and imaging than my old NAD 1600. Higher gain. At around 1-watt output = separation about as clean and well-imaged as my AD-2000X or Sony Z1R headphones thro .......

Leave the area around the cartridge, free of washers. Unless they fit flush and do not bind against the cartridge's body. I'm pretty sure you want the body free from anything applying lateral force ag .......

Had to use a 0.8 gram, 2mm spacer to get the cartridge into proper weight and height range. Overall cartridge and headshell weight = 18.43 grams. This is a very good cartridge. Gone through two albums .......

IME, TFK tubes make more difference in low wattage amps. Like SE Vibro Champs and Princeton Reverbs. Esp in the vibrato-tremolo section. Quiet and nice sensitivity to the dial and touch of the strings .......

In my experience. I like Denon/Hana/Nagaoka "sound" versus Audio-Technica/Grado/Ortofon. In general, the latter group has a more mid-high tilt. Some folks like this sound better. I like MC over MM. On .......

You may have some parallax, in those photos. Esp one on right. At close-up ranges, a tiny shift in camera angle makes a big difference. I used a bubble level to be sure the camera (tripod) and the car .......

AFAIK, Philips/Mullard help develop the EL84. These tubes have such a clean, warm midrange. Really, only BP RCA 6BQ5 come close, during this 1950-60s era --- but lack the clean highs. IMHO, of course! .......
