The imaging of Maggies is certainly not diffuse, that is, if it is hooked up to a resolving high quality system. Correct set-up and sitting in the sweet spot there is no lack of imaging or detail comp .......

For that money the 1.6 is a no brainer, but........... to reach its full potential you would need to seriously upgrade what's up front. That's the thing with Maggies, they sound decent with components .......

In general, mono's wil improve on a stereo amp in most criteria (unless output is miles apart) for the obvious reasons. At your listening levels with with a higher class A output you should definitely .......

Laser measuring may give exact equal measurements to your brain(?), but is no guarantee for pin-point imaging, unless everything is perfectly symmetrical........ your hearing, wall distance, wall mate .......

The OP stated in his first post that the distortion moves from speaker to speaker in co-relation to a SPC cross switch. That rules out a blown fuse or damaged speakers. .......

Don't go for the cheap S.R. orange fuses, not worth it. I can highly recommend the Audio Magic Premier Ultimate Fuse, at just under 400$, a absolute must have! They will transform a LRS to a 20.7!! :: .......

How thick a speaker cable is has absolutely nothing to do with performance, and thick gauged wire is totally unnecessary, no matter which amp - speaker combi. There are so many factors that affect cab .......

Putting mono's behind a speaker (especially dipoles!) is a bad idea, even worse is putting them on the speakers feet, sound waves and feet vibrations are not exactly the things you want to inflict on .......

Don't get hung up on numbers, you should look for quality over quantity, 60 watts of pure class A will let the Maggie's sing, with little more to be desired. Class A/B, B or D amps can be allright but .......
