If I change the power supply, the input tubes, the output tubes and switch from cap coupled 3 stage to direct coupled 2 stage, I should have an ok amp. No feedback and PP is okay evidently and maybe I .......

will fry the output tubes and probably the transformers as well. First test run I had a wire come loose on the bias to one of the tubes and the whole internal structure of the EL84 was starting to glo .......

Output of my phase splitter *had* the 0.47u coupling cap, then (I think from memory) 470k to ground and the 3.9k grid stopper resistor. This was back when the ouptut tubes were run with cathode bias. .......

coupling caps are 0.47uf. Grid stoppers are 3.9k from memory (will have to check. Bias supply is approx 20v full rail, with 5k dropping resistor from -20, a 10k pot feeding out to the output tube grid .......

Have to say I've yet to see it on vinyl but the version of FBR that Tori Amos sings on the Cohen compilation "Tower of Song" is amazing. There are IMO a few dogs on this album, Elton John and Billy Jo .......

This is why I was curious to have read about the reduced requirement for antiskate in unipivots. Of course it could simply be a case of someone making a U/P without A/S saying that it wasn't neccessar .......

I recall reading somewhere recently (Bluenote perhaps but don't quote me that that's the source, apologies for incorrect attribution etc) that unipivot's had less need of antiskate than standard gimba .......

I was using one about 6 months ago with a Shure VST on a Technics SL120 DD. The arm is a bit light for MC use I'd say but seemed fine with the Shure. I changed it out for a much heavier weight chromed .......
