You are correct. ID drivers used by Bruce were DVC and required a very small sealed enclosure for their F3 which, next to superb build quality of ID was the main reason why he used it in some of his p .......

just out of curiosity - why an 8" driver for a 35Hz sub? I built a 35Hz sub using an 18" driver (EVM18B) and with 100 inch throat the wave was 10 feet long. With an 8" driver this would be a huge sub. .......

I've been rubbing elbows with Bruce since the late 80's and talked to him on the phone about two weeks ago. I helped Bruce in building many of his projects and in the process learned a lot about horns .......

I own a Bifrost multibit and I compared it to my nephew's multi-thousand-dollars Berkeley dac. I can't say that Bifrost smoked Berkeley, but it sure held its ground well. And I got it used on craigsli .......

You may have a point. I bought my Bifrost from a guy who advertised this DAC on Craigslist at a very attractive price. He seemed nice and friendly (which really doesn't tell much) The unit works fine. .......

Yes, that's always an option. But there are several inputs and outputs in the back including AC socket and I'm not sure I can cut all the holes so that they perfectly align with the board. I'm a fairl .......

you can't tell the frequency response just by visually assessing the size of the horn. I think much better results could be achieved by building a floor firing bass horn - similar to what Dr. Bruce Ed .......

You're absolutely right - the JBL 2441/2440 throat is smaller than 2" by just about 1/16. God only knows why JBL decided to make them this way. It has no impact on the sound and Dr. Bruce Edgar has ro .......

My two bits re tweeters in Edgarhorn system - I agree that you can almost do without a tweeter. When I say almost I mean there may be a little more air there when you use a tweeter, but nothing really .......

Agreed. The problem is not very noticeable if you play soft jazz and such. But on load orchestral pieces, yes, you can hear it. We tried the 4-th order and it really fixed the problem. .......

Fair enough. The adapter that also serves as the driver mount provides for a smooth transition from square to round throat. I made two types of adapters - 2" and 1.4" (for Altec 288) BTW, another disc .......

I would try a floor firing horn before I'd try this. Pointing the exhaust into the floor converts the area between the floor and the horn (circumference times the distance to the floor) into horn's mo .......

I also noticed that when manufacturers offer SSD instead of a HD, say 1 TB, the price can easily go up by as much as $1000. And that's while 1 TB SSD sells for about $320 and I'm sure manufacturers do .......

I would not recommend 3M High Strength 90 spray contact cement to somebody who is not very experienced with veneering. Instead, try regular yellow/white carpenters glue. Apply to both, box and veneer, .......

The output of the straight mid bass horn is very linear. It goes up to 500 Hz before rolling off and down to 80Hz at which point it begins to drop off like a rock. The x-over is first order 500Hz alth .......

Let's face it - laptop speakers sound lousy. So I thought I would connect my small realistic speakers to my laptop. The question is: since laptop doesn't have an amp capable of driving these speakers, .......

Hmm...an interesting proposition. I built a nice pair of 80Hz backloaded horns with 8" Fostex Special Edition. Somebody was offering a pair of Raven1 on DIY Audio for about $160...perhaps I should get .......

Fostex 500 Mark II is altogether in a separate class - way above the rest. I heard TAD tweeter you mentioned and I was not impressed. May be it's just me... .......

The horn flare rate is 300Hz. The X-over point is 500Hz. BZW, that 300Hz horn is still a mega-performer. Everybody went nuts over round horns with compression drivers. Alright, they do sound great, bu .......

I was guided, primarily, by esthetics: the footprint of the 300Hz horn follows the footprint of the bass horn. The 300Hz sit freely on top of the back chamber and can be rotated for better imaging. :: .......

You may very well be right. I never tried to place the tweeter on the side - perhaps I should have. I heard Edgarhorn Slimline Signature and it sounded quite well with tweeters being on the side. Some .......

There are a lot of these on ebay, so finding a match should not be a problem. Just make sure the FC impedances are the same so you can drive two speakers from the same power supply. .......

No, this is not System 100. The base horn is a 80Hz J-horn with EVM-12L firing downwards. Again, I stayed strictly within the calculated specs and the horn is 38 inches long, which is, about, the bigg .......

The X-over is set at 80Hz - I use my DEQX 2.6 for this. The sub is flat down to 35Hz - and I mean measurably flat (the response was, actually, measured) and has plenty of residual output below 35Hz, b .......

The amp is a prototype for the Cavalier series amplifiers. It's SE EL34 tube triode strapped. I never thought EL-34 could be this musical until I heard Cy's amp. .......
