The NAD 3020 v2 is supposed to be a modern alternative to the original 3020, but it's not a premium product by any means. I haven't heard them but the NAD Master series amps reportedly sound pretty go .......

In my (limited) experience buying vinyl online all of the sellers grade by how the record looks (scratches, smudges, etc). I think it would be much more valuable to also grade by how the record sounds .......

Hi b9ronaldo, I think you've got the production correct, the only thing I would add is that sonically all of the tubes make in toward the end of the third production run (mid-70's) were very variable .......

Ugh... one of my roommates in college had one of these horizontal Pioneers, it always had tracking problems and never sounded very good even then, I doubt if a 30 year old example would be worth bothe .......

I pulled a Townshend Seismic Sink out of my secondary system to use under my MMF-5 turntable; it really makes a BIG difference in bringing out the best in this humble 'table. BTW, I use seismic sinks .......

Your ARC is a good amp so that shouldn't be a limiting factor in your search for the sound you crave. My SED 6550 sounded good after 20 hours and improved very slightly up to the 100 hour mark, so giv .......

I hear what you're saying and agree, here in Phoenix there are quite a lot of places to buy used vinyl but the good stuff is overpriced IMO and the 50 cent LPs are usually trashed or in badly torn or .......

Not sure which amp you've got but I've done a lot of rolling with 6550's and in particular KT88's so here are some random impressions. First a broken-in SED 6550 should not have "murky bass' or 'rolle .......

I had BD racing cones under my MMF-5 for a time and liked it, but now I've switched over to some nice looking homemade footer "sandwich" consisting of a vibrapod on top and a large Pioneer honeycomb h .......
