I buy new tape and supplies from usrecordingmedia.com. they have everything you need. Splice it is another source there are many mail order places that carry all flavors of ATR and RMGI in pancake, 10 .......

OK here's a status report. Parts came and I replaced all 'lytic caps (not the pwr sply cans as the expansion seals looked fine) After replacing the caps I adjusted the bias (best was .49) Powering up .......

OK- Everybody says that Otari are HOT (positive) on pin 3 of the xlr, and when making an RCA to XLR to reverse + and - on the xlr side for correct phase. It even shows pin 3 wired as hot in the man .......

The interesting thing is he'll make the tapes anyway you like 2 or 4 trk 3, 7, 15 ips and he even has the same machine I do the otari 5050 and uses the same tapes. I use sm900 he quotes.... The new ta .......

if you can look at the switch REAL close as it resides on the pcb you may be able to to see who made the switch and a p/n. then search at msc, allied, digi, mouser, etc. try here as well .......

Been hunting for meter bulbs for the otari mx-5050BII 2. Rather not spend $2.50 for a bulb. Ki quoted the LU2049 bulb which I cant seem to cross reference, and Rolf notes its 8v and about 80mA THese .......

While trolling the racks at the local vinyl shop, there before my eyes was a stack of reel boxes all 10" metal NAB. 14 reels in total and a nice price as well, $7.85 each 6- TDK Audua L-3600M 1- empty .......

not sure about that, from what I read you remove the tape that holds the clear cover over the meters, from the back it would be a real job, maybe chech w/ Mitch @ at Otari. If you find out let me know .......

I have not purchased the bulbs yet, but they are easy to get from Otari. They are 2.50 each, ask to speak to Mitch I think his ext. is 100 at the main Otari phine number. .......

Doc- Yep, I have a 5050B II2 and it does have the switch. When I have my RTR calibrated next week dont I have to choose which EQ i'll be recording w/ and would I need different calibration tape? Doug .......

The opportunity has come up for getting a Otari MTR-12, I think it may be a MTR-12 II, thats what the seller has said. I know its a 1/2" deck, but is it possible to run it w/ 1/4" tape as well? Loo .......

I tore apart the capstan servo board and found evidence of some blown circuitry , must of been replaced 'cause I pulled them from the pcb and measured OK. the corosion does not look like it came from .......

I've been playing w/ the speed issue and figured out that at least its not the switch. I took off the pinch roller and pushed play... the transport moved in hi and lo positions the capstan stopped mov .......

I thought of rewiring the converters, but I dont plan to use the deck w/ my SET and x-over free back loaded horns. 5 min w/ a soldering gun will fix this! :) .......

just did the same, the otari and the cables. all you need are xlr to rca converters, they plug into thesocketsand then you can use any cable.. sam ash, guitar center, muicians friend have 'em about $1 .......

Spin clean has been around since the 60's. Its an immersion system I have one and it works, the only drawback is that you really cant do one record at a time, I uasually do 15- 50 lps ata sitting ::: .......

if you bought it in europe it wont be good for the US the motor is meant for 50hz. Goldring & Lenco were not meant for the US market only BOGEN/LENCO were we have 60hz making the motor spin faster the .......

I just got two Mk II's and recalibrated them and re capped them. The cost... $8 to replace the two lyitc caps on each of their boards. all the other caps are film so will be OK unless they have physic .......

I had read Cougar's posts about his SA-1000 journey and was wondering if anyone could shed some light on my little problem. Over the past few days the phono section on my sa-1000 was getting noisy, ty .......

When I built my Solo 206's I did not stuff 'em I just lined the chamber w/ acoustic tile. Tony Gee, who had done much experimenting w/ this design tried it w/ stuffing but in the end removed it as it .......

Oh yeah I forgot... I was also thinking of removing the fuse for the squawk and tweeter, but leave for the woofer. Cheaper to replace diaphgram then woofer. Or should I remove all fuses, My Heresy II' .......

So I guess the best answer is to leave the circuit as is. How often is there a problem where the bias is off between the tubes as the tubes age that it would cause problems? Has anybody experienced a .......

How about this ... 1- add another t3 PSU... call it T4 2- make R4 a pot (value?) 3- 2a3 filaments no longer joined tojether, each have their own psu .......

Mike, Jeff, etc... I guess what I really would love to know is, has anybody developed / implemented a good system to include individual, adjustable biasing for the 2a3's and for that matter a hum pot .......

Don't know if anybody thought of this, say so if I'm wrong... 1- could a second "T3" be added to the psu so the 2a3's could be individually biased? 2- does hammond make something w/ more taps to allow .......
