Unless one compares the same cartridge on each system, it seems to me that the last seven or eight categories would probably be considerably influenced by cartridge selection. MM or MC? Benz, Koetsu, .......

I don't know for certain. My assumption is that the diagram is for wiring in-phase, which is most easily verified by matching "+" on the amp to "+" on each speaker. Since the diagram clearly shows "+" .......
