The purpose of MLP is to take six channels of 24/96 LPCM (about 14Mbps) and pack it down so it fits within the DVD transfer rate of 10.5Mbps. If the algorithm can't do that without filtering the audio .......

Since my old post went missing here's a copy.. It turns out that MLP doesn't handle high frequency content very well, so as a patch it is sometimes necessary to apply a low pass filter to keep the dat .......

The 9000ES isn't a multichannel player so it defaults to the 2-ch mix. Every M-ch SACD includes a dedicated stereo track for compatibility with two-channel systems. Cheers, Dave. .......

The DVD-V section on a DVD-A can be region coded, and if the disc has any video content it must be in the local format (NTSC for the Americas and PAL for Europe). It's very possible that a DVD-A meant .......

Oops.. it looks like you are correct. The DC-2 has 24/96 DACs, so I assumed it was also doing A/D at 24/96. In fact the A/D is 24 bit at 44.1kHz. The DC-2 can do D/A at 96Hz but only by directly drivi .......

I can hear the difference between the filters, but it is subtle. Their effect depends a lot on the CD. In general I prefer the "Smooth" filter rather than "Sharp". Come to think of it.. I believe it's .......

It's in the setup screen, under Audio options. You'll need to connect a TV to access it. The setting only affects CD, not SACD. Dave. .......

"Sharp" and "Smooth". I prefer the "Smooth" filter, which I assume has a more gentle roll-off. Dave. .......
