I have a friend close by who has the Django and I have the SE. We compared the two and after all is said and done there was VERY little difference between the two sonically. Either one is a winner! :: .......

"The tubes look like they're fine" I'm not sure how you ascertain this but if you don't have an accurate tube tester, or tester at all, try switching the tubes and see if the problem follows the tubes .......
