I'll add my $.02. I use an el84 amp a friend built for me for my ESLs and I enjoy it very much. That said, I am convinced that the tube type has less to do with amp sound than the quality of the outpu .......

I've looked into OTL's to drive my 57s, but concluded that the impedance variation of the Quads is too demanding for OTL. Having said that, I've never tried it. If you do, please share your experience .......

I second Monk 1's caution about the capacitance of the Polk Cobra cables. I blew output transistors in a CM Labs amp using these cables with that amp and my 57's. I last heard of these cables in the 7 .......
