A truly sad day. Alistair was a true pioneer of high-end audio and will be missed greatly. All of the UK audio rags spoke very highly of him. I'm sure his legacy will continue in the form of SME. .......

I have a number of turntables but the lastest one breaks down like this. Turntable (Thorens TD150) = £170 / 38 % Arm (SME 3009) = £180 / 40 % Cartridge (Shure M97xE) = £100 / 22 % Total cost .......

What about Denatured Ethanol? I can get hold of this in bulk from work. I understand that it's a lot more concentrated than Isopropy Alcohol. Can it be used on it's own or does it have to be diluted .......

It's a classic sign that FF & REW speeds get affected when belts are worn. They may not look it but they are almost certainly stretched. I've yet to come across a cassette deck (apart from new ones .......
