Bryan, This sounds like an unusual design. The only time I've seen a series R at the input of the phone stage is when it's used with a parallel capacitor to create an RC filter to keep RF frequencies .......

You can almost certainly improve on them with things like the Bent/SB transformers, but at 3-5 times the cost. For ~$200 the K&K kit gives you a really high quality product that sounds great (at least .......

Stereo is not compression. It takes a limited view of the soundfield, and (properly implemented) recreates that limited view. IMO, this has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any normal usage of .......

Look at the TKD stepped attenuators. 40 steps, initially in 1dB increments, incredible accuracy, matching to 0.2dB (even better in the case of the one I purchased) and no sound at all that I can disce .......

Distortion on vinyl decreases with volume, but I have never measured anything less than 0.1%, and that is rare. How low have you been able to measure? Since you can't just create your own LP test sig .......

That's usually the culprit in my experience. Instead of buying an electrical High Pass filter, it's probably better to create the appropriate mechanical HP filter by getting the horizontal and vertica .......

It doesn't really matter if there is or isn't any signal above 20kHz. You can't implement a 22kHz filter (needed for anti-aliasing) that doesn't effect frequencies much lower than that. It's one of th .......

If you don't want to spend the money required to get the Jubilee, the Ortofon Kont B is a great cartridge. IMO, it matches your description well. The C may be better, but I haven't heard one yet. Pete .......

Dan: This link only looks at losses due to dielectric absorption, which are clearly very low in level. It doesn't look at the energy storage/release effect that has been fairly well documented in capa .......

While they are essential in areas like safety and ergonomics, it's not so clear that they are always good in a broader sense. Sometimes standards facilitate innovation, in other cases they stifle it. .......
