lower serial number generally garner a premium with just about every collectible and serialized item, so I can understand the perception of #001 being coveted more than #842 out of a run of say 1000. .......

I don't listen to the big rig as much as I did from '99-'05, so it's not getting as much use. Mine went back after 2.5 years of heavy use, for the sled/spindle motor service and but for a 'no disc' er .......

heat could be an issue, or a cold solder joint somewhere. Have you tried replacing the tubes and seeing if the problem still manifests itself? They're common 6922s IIRC. That's what I would do first. .......
