Thanks for checking in Ralph. The later 9015 does have an output transformer so in addition to the 800 ohm output it can output at 8ohms. I don't know anyone who has heard these amps and the schematic .......

The 9014 was an OTL amp but apparently only output into Philips own 800 ohm speakers. The 9015 added an output transformer to drop from 800 to 8 ohms. Does anyone have experience with these amps or mo .......

How are Cube speakers in an open baffle? I see the posted project boxes suggested for bass reflex or quarter wave but not sure if they are good for open baffle designs with a subwoofer at a low crosso .......

For the record, I just got back my MA-1 Deluxes that were brought to 3.3 status this month. This older version had 12 rather than 14 6AS7s so the power is about 120w rather than 140w for the newer MA- .......

So what you are saying is that the low current on this tube raises the RP too high for a transformer, and this would probably be the case even if I went to the 5965 and even if I switched out the cath .......

Hi Dave, I don't have a schematic as its a commercial design and the best I could do was lift the lid and measure the components I saw. This is a three tube per channel balanced design using 3 12at7s .......

Its built into the line stage. Its an atma sphere MP3 that has three 12at7 tubes running into the pot. Its an all balanced design and there does not appear to be any cathode bypass cap to my recollect .......

Other than the heater voltage, is the 6cg7 a substitute for the 12au7? The amplification factor, voltages and plate resistances are just about the same and the tube curves are much more linear on the .......

Is this the same as an MA-1 Deluxe? This amp has two rows of six power tubes running from right to left at the back followed by a row of five 6sn7 tubes. If split half right and half left then you are .......

Just to make sure it was not the tubes, I swapped all the tubes from the poorly functioning amp to the one working well and vice versa. Still got the 2v offset reading on the left and still got a pinn .......

I tested all the power tubes with my Hickok tube tester to make sure no shorts or grid leakage are present and even matched the tubes so that one bank of power tubes has equal readings to the other ba .......

I run MBL 111e-'but I use the old Atma Sphere Zero auto formers to bring these 4 ohm speakers to 11 ohms. Such seeming mismatches can work out well with the autoformers which are now sold at the antic .......

I checked with my mulltitester and it does appear to be a 200k pot, which suggests that the line stage must be pretty sensitive to boost the signal from the phono stage particularly through so much re .......

Hi Ralph, It is a very tight space behind the volume pot. I wonder why not use a shunt volume control instead of a series pot. Only a few fixed resistors in the signal path and those can be of a lowis .......

My understanding is that it's the same circuit but with fewer tubes, like the difference between an s30 and an s60. The power supplies are likely to be quite different considering the real estate for .......

If you can build your own, you can build an integrated amp that is fully balanced, to cancel out PS noise and use interstage transformers to knock out ground loops. I saw an interesting article years .......

You say the new ones, not made by Jensen, but I think there were two types of "audionote" copper caps, one set with paper in oil and another with Mylar in oil. If you purchased yours in the last year .......

The boards are in place and work well. I had the same problem as before with a hum and 30v difference between plate voltages on the halves of the left channel but tracked it down to a broken conductor .......

Sorry about that. The voltage differences are higher when it just starts up. I let the tubes warm up for 30 minutes and got these measurements from the poorly functioning board: TP4A to ground - 205.7 .......

I took my (first iteration of the Davenport) line stage off the piece of wood that was its chasis to measure the boards for a real chasis and replace the regulator resistors with much nicer 320R film .......

Found these drivers at Zalytron- focal 7w4411 and the high frequency dropoff at 3khz is like a second order crossover. The tweeter can be a ribbon tweeter like the Hi-Vi RT1C whose specs are at madiso .......

I put the Mosfets in last night and they helped greatly. From top to bottom the sound is better. The specs are clearly different, as the prior mosfets needed 220 ohms to reach 7.5 ma and these need 3 .......

The universal supply looks really nice. Shunt voltage reg and tube rectification, it is already better than what I am using. I will have no problem cutting the traces and wiring in switches and resist .......

I need opinions on a good tube rectifier that can handle 200ma at 450v and it wouldn't hurt if it looked good too. Reliability and availability are plusses. Thanks for any ideas. Charles .......

Actually all the CCS are for a preamp. The phono stage is a balanced stage ala Alan Wright and runs two ccs into two shunts before the plates of the two phono preamp tubes, each run as balanced +, _, .......

The preamp I'm building will need ten current regulators. The high number is because four of them will precede shunt regulators, four will sit on top of the plates of the output tubes and two will fee .......

In Gary's BBMCCS there are two banks of batteries each rendering 9v to use as a reference. Since there is no real current drain, is there any reason to use two battery banks instead of just using one .......

If you are ordering parts from audionote then order yourself a second choke like the one that came with the kit and use it to power the phono stage only. From B+ place the choke in series to the phono .......

Where is Ben Duncan's PSUD? BTW I tried various schemes to make the choke/cap filter work but always had a hum problem, sometimes induced by the filter chokes!!! I had a major problem with motorboatin .......

Because my outlets had no ground I used a wire to the water pipe as ground. Well, that also made a nifty antenna for boosting radio waves. Cut the cord and radio is gone, but a slight buzz is back. :- .......

I like the look of the Allen Wright differential phono stage. Low impedence and low capacitance in the signal path compared to other CR or even LCR stages. Problem is I don't want to toss my line stag .......
