I wasn't expecting much from this one, but imo it really delivered! With this performance, and his turn as Gus in Lonesome Dove, Robert "Bluebonnet" Duval gets my vote as the best screen cowboy ever .......

RC, Check him out at imdb.com. Lipton is much older than I originally thought...and he has show biz chops that go back to the 1950's...Broadway, soap operas, musical scores, etc. He was once married .......

I'm with you, Rico, I love this 2 vhs set and the book. My favorite part is "The Director as Smuggler"...as a fan of film noir, this is essential stuff. Marty has a unique vision in viewing/reviewing .......

FWIW, the Club is located about a mile from my home...I haven't been there in 20 years (not my type of music, and a VERY rough crowd), as this is not the first shooting to start at The Villa. My dry .......

Thanks for the great link/interview, Munkie. I'm also a fan of JJ's, and saw him in a small club in Cleveland about 10 years ago. He played for over two hour, and never broke a sweat...now that's coo .......

Pretty much agree, I think Goldfinger does edge From Russia with Love slightly, but I prefer the punch-out in the train car with Red (Robert Shaw) in the later film versus the fight with Oddjob. Yep, .......

Rico, It surprised me that you gave that nice summary of Mildred Pierce, and named everyone in the film except the great Zachery Scott! Zach took being a slimey cad to an art forn in this and several .......

Rico, One of the reasons I don't go to theaters much anymore is the problem you mentioned...bad sound. I don't know if it's some of those "blockbusters" with the screaming soundtracks that are screwi .......

I gotta agree with you Patrick, I like the voice over version as well...I have both versions on laserdisc, and the VO version just seems more "right" to me...and gives the film a much more neo-noir f .......

Thanks Rico, Interesting stuff coming out from kino...they did a great job with some film noir classics in my collecion (Raw Deal, T-men). Is this ot the day that Kill Bill vol 2 is available? Regards .......
