The response looks like the EVM15L. I prefer the B model which rolls off at 500Hz. Look at the cone. If it is smooth it is the B model. If the cone has a ribbed structure, then it is the L model. Bruc .......

You can mount them on a 300 hz mid horn. They are probably good up to 3khz. OR you can use them in a back loaded 80 hz midbass horn. The later is probably the best use. I have designed several horns l .......

I've posted in the past about the differences between the 4001 and 2001. On tractrix horns the 2001 has the "JBL" depth of image character, whereas the 4001 has an "in your face" character and no dept .......

I have built over a 100 of my downfiring Edgarhorn 35Hz seismic horn subs over the last decades. They work best on a concrete floor. Wood floors are invisible at those low frequencies. Have you heard .......

You are right that a dome tweeter does not make a good horn tweeter driver. Why? Because a good dome direct radiator tweeter is mass loaded. IF it loads a regular horn , the result becomes a mid range .......

The Voigt horns at the Klipsch Museum are the "home constructor" type. At least one of them is a Lowther PW-1 (post war) made by Lowther after Voigt left for Canada in the early 50's. The Voigt horns .......

The driver has to be mated to the compatible horn. Gluca likes the 4001 on his radial horn. If you read my reply to Gluca's post below, you will see that the 4001 overcompensates for the veiling inher .......

The midbass is my standard 80Hz exp horn. It's 2' long with a 3/16th mouth at 80Hz. Nick Ferber(314-315-6095) is now making it for all my Edgarhorn customers. I'm not making them anymore, so talk to N .......

I use a Cy Brenneman Cavalier Plus with KT88's on the Titans. I have used Cy's 15w/ch PP amp but the Cavalier has a much richer fuller cleaner sound. For the Sub I use a 100watt plate amp. ::: TOPIC:: .......

Your cones don't look too bad. I have bought far worse on ebay. I would wait until you think the mid bass is not keeping up with the compression drivers. Also I think Orange Co. Speaker may be cheaper .......

80Hz is a good starting point, but it really depends on what the effective low frequency cutoff of your midbass horn is. The exact stting is really determined by your ear- brain perception of the best .......

The 80Hz exp horn needs to be extended couple of inches to a 1/4th size mouth, and then the response will look better. But I designed the horn to get the best performance out of a 2ft horn, and the 80 .......

There some unusual effects if you place the mouth directly on the floor, especially like my 100hz horn design. It is actually too short a bass horn, but if it is placed several inches above the floor .......

The response you cite is the true response of the 80hz exp horn. It has a 3/16 th size mouth. I have experimented with an 85 hz hyperbolic horn with a 1/4th size mouth (Titan II design) and a 75 HZ hy .......

I would use a low power push pull amp, not a SET. Because the Hartsfield has good bass response, a SET's low damping factor will make the bass sound odd. If you prefer music that is more mid range voc .......

The driver you have is a 2245 reconed as a 2240. Both share the same basket and magnet. The horn sub requires a 2240. The 2245 is designed as a bass reflex driver. I use use Orange Co. Speaker in Gard .......

Yes, there will be a hole, because the EVM15B will roll off around 500Hz. The EVM 15L will go up higher, but it doesn't sound good above 800Hz. You may want to consider a cone midrange on a rectangula .......

The sub is rated at 104 dB. The bottom 6db point is 35Hz and the rolloff is 12 db /oct. The bottom end can be EQ'ed somewhat to give good response down to 20Hz. The upper response end is close to 200H .......

Either 12" drivers you mention will work OK in the Show Horn without any mods. I've plugged in several different 12" and even 15" drivers into the show horn and they all resonated at about the same 50 .......

I've heard the same sound on Khorns. Find the 2nd order crossover for the woofer. It's a series coil with a cap in parallel. In the khorn, it's in the bass horn back chamber. I don't know where it is .......

A T=0.4 will produce a big bump on the bottom with Fs=the flare freq. My experiments with T less than 0.5 produced very boomy bass. That's why I advocate T=0.6 for a balanced sound. .......

As Tom points out in the post below, you can't judge by the Theile Small parameters. I can only determine it by puting the driver on a horn and measuring it to see if it exhibits suspension domination .......

If you mount the Pioneer driver directly to the throat there is a bad response spike between 500 and 1000 Hz. Mounting the pioneer with 1/4" spacers will smooth out the response. See my '85 SB article .......

Yes, the pic brings back memories, good and bad. The horn was a bitch to build. The curved reflector caused the bass horn to rolloff at 400Hz due to disorganization of the wave front. The same driver .......

Sorry, I was shooting from the hip on reconing LE15"s. I have had LE-10's reconed as K-110, so I assumed that the trend would continue for the larger models. .......

1. The LE15's are really not good horn drivers ase they are configured. The suspension is rather compliant, most good horn drivers need a stiff suspension. You can get the LE15's reconed as K-140 or K .......

I think I was misunderstood. The flare on the A-7 is a 110Hz Exponential with a 1/2 sized mouth. I don't recommend changing to a tractrix because the response at the flare frequency will be reduced. : .......

I've sucessfully used 1/4 50Hz horns outdoors. Your may have to add some EQ to the bottom end, but I was surprised how well mine worked especially with a tube amp with a low damping factor. A SS amp w .......

The sensitivity is 104dB. I've measured 1-2 watts going into it on drum peaks. The volume control on the Hsu amp is set about 7-8 o'clock. I would like to find a smaller ss sub amp but there is no m .......

I personally like to use tube electronics for amps, but SET amps saturate at the low end so they don't work well on my sub. I was surprised as most how well the Hsu amp works on my horn sub. It blends .......

In the commercial world direct radiator woofers rule because you can't use a bass horn with out any boundaries. I agree with you that if you want a high efficiency box under 3.5 cuft, the 100db woofer .......

The calculated rolloff on the top end would be 400Hz. You could get 100-400Hz on a 100Hz horn. For a midbass horn this is actually pretty good. With a tight suspension, the top end could go up to 800H .......

Msec means millisec. Yes 12.5ft could be heard. My bass horn is about 8ft long. I purposely didn't make it any longer because I felt that the audible time delay threshold could be heard. Bruce ::: TOP .......

There is probably 4-5millisec delay between the Titan midbass and the sub horn. I've never had any listener tell me that there is a time lag in the bass. Many years ago a German psychoacoustician did .......

As I remembered the Lambda woofer on my 80Hz went up surprisingly high like 600Hz. So the 500Hz horn probably would work.Bruce .......

The dimensions of the horn shell are 25"Hx18.5"Wx 24"D. The final dimensions are determined by the box wall thickness, trim, base, etc. Bruce .......

Try reversing the input to the 2001. The TAD drivers have reverse polarity meaning that the black connector is actually the red one, etc. If there is a phase cancellation at 800Hz, that could cause th .......
