No - I wouldn't say either shielded or unshielded would be the deciding factor in selecting an interconnect, unless of course you are picking up some kind of EMI or RFI grunge, or have an exceptionall .......

You need shielding between the cartridge and the phono stage, but after that there should be plenty of gain for the signal to travel to the preamp. Unless of course you are in a grungy area with tons .......

Yeah, those look like Calipers, not Duetta's. I had a pair of them that I rebuilt before I upgraded to the Duetta Sig's, where I rebuilt the crossover. There's not many speakers that can sound as good .......

I've found that I now prefer clean contacts for RCA's and speaker cables, after trying it on them way back when. However, using it on those pcheap power line fuses is a great practice. .......

If you can use the 16' side as the room length, I would say they should. Just keep them 4' out from the front wall and sit about 8' away. That leaves 4' behind you. You don't have to worry about them .......

Just a recommendation, but you might want to burn in the caps for 100 hours before installing them. They do take 70-100 hours to sound their best, and that's a lot of vinyl sides to get through if you .......

Every time I hear anything rhodium it tends to have the same impact. It's like a loudness button, extending the top and bottom end and, not losing the midrange, but recessing it a bit. It does tighten .......

In my experience I found more surface noise using an elliptical stylus. When I went to a cartridge with a Shibata fine line stylus I noticed much less surface noise. All this of course on clean record .......

Those Russian teflons are very good and cheap enough to try out. They are a bit large though, so only use them where space allows. They also seem to break in faster than V-Caps and other teflons with .......

Care and feeding - use a little lemon oil on the wood panels once or twice a year, especially in the dry winter months. Those can dry out and crack. I found that my unit really idn;'t like being plugg .......

The Transfiguration and Dynavector cartridges share a similar house sound. Moving up from a DV 20X to an XX2 or a Transfiguration Aria will definitely bring more detail and greater warmth and evenness .......

The difference in sound from one load setting to another is really subtle and absolutely a matter of choice and preference. In fact, it could even change from record to record if you want to get that .......

This starts cutting things off below 140Hz. Generally a subwoofer doesn't start cutting in until 30-40Hz. You need a steep slope cutoff for the sub STARTING below 20Hz if you just want to implement it .......

Also think about squash balls; they will compress more and flatten a bit. They isolate similarly and keep the TT a little more stable and easy to handle. Not as much horizontal movement as racquetball .......

I picked up a set of 4 GIK panels. They are pretty fat, compared to the Echobusters I see many pwople using. They worked far better also. But they definitely lean more toward a decent DIY look and fee .......

I would expect that you would get resonances. It's also low mass (i.e. lightweight) and strong lengthwise, but not necissarily strong widthwise. That means it would flex and perhaps crack with weight .......

What I would suggest is going with a single 1uF 200V Sonicap for each channel. If the top end is not transparent enough for you after 100 hours of break in, then I would try putting a .01uF Sonicap II .......

The Sonicaps are necessary for the Swenson mod. The Auricaps are a nice to have mod for the power supply, but you can forego it if you need to. The Jensen 4 pole thing is significant overkill for this .......

The octal version can sound very nice, but octals are generally noisy tubes. You will do a lot of swapping to find ones that work better than the 12AX7 version of this unit and are still quiet. I foun .......

From the description it looks like it's put together quite well. Are those paper in oil caps in there too? Can you tell what the DAC chip is? It looks to be covered up (black boxed) in the E-Bay listi .......

I had 25 foot runs, so I couldn't go the separate and rebraid route. Much too long to successfully accomplish this. So I just brainded the 3 cables together. The result was not terribly good. I went b .......
