You hit the nail on the head. Live music must follow the same loudness rules, so classical basslines playing at piano level are supposed to be really quiet. So assuming the piece is properly recorded, .......

Since this is a 2 way, why invert the woofer? The crossovers is at what, 2K? Wouldn't it have made more sense to keep the proper polarity on the woofer (which is carrying 99% of the fundamental notes) .......

So you have a peak ouput at - 10dB. You are correct, that's around 45 watts, which means a dB gain of about 16dB. If your speaker sensitivity is 90dB, you would be listening at a peak level of roughly .......

The headamp is designed to interface into a 47K load. The resistors should go at input of the HA. If you load the MM section then you are creating 2 problems: 1) The cart still isn't properly loaded .......

Open up your amp and take a look at the wire running from the IEC to the power tranny. Then take a look at the wires that make up the power tranny. Using anything larger than those is a waste current .......

I believe these amps use an AC heater supply. If that's truly the case, then you cannot completely eliminate the hum. It's not a defect, just part of the design. Many of Ron's amps came with AC heater .......
