if the arm is perfectly balanced with no force in any direction, the same is true when you move it -- it should stay where you put it, no matter where, because there is no force to return it to level .......

Another fellow had the same problem (see below). Here's what I found: when the manual says turn the counterweight "all the way" to the pivot, it doesn't mention that when you get to the end the weight .......

OK, so I managed to buy a floor model Rega P1, which I can return if I end up not liking. Got it with its OM-5E into a rat shack source selector, on the other side is the hot-rodded TD-160 with stock .......

I've heard so many positive and negative experiences with rega, i'd love to hear yours. as for the motor, it has a burnt winding. replacements run $60-$70. it actually works fine if I give it a push .......

The "a la Bohemia" one -- terrific music but the bari sax is really distorted on the first track. Cleaned it, dusted it, it had some schmutz in the grooves but it's all clear now, still pretty distort .......

Although I haven't tried this, keep in mind that the platter only rings when NOT laying on the inner platter -- put them together and tap, they should be pretty dull. I am willing to bet it's easy to .......

Vinyl Engine has a "Thorens Arc Protractor" for most Thorens arms...I used it to great effect on my TD160. I printed it (making sure to set 0 margins) and taped it to a piece of cardboard about record .......
