What about the issue when the amp is pulling lower current, the resistance will then increase and if a big current demand comes along how does the amp/power supply respond as the resistance will be hi .......

It is interesting how much variance I found looking across the web at many different power supplies. Clearly there doesn't seem to be a consensus of any kind that I can find to the amount of capacitan .......

I agree that it is the inrush current that is causing the problems. The arcing only occurs once about 2-3 seconds after switch on. Any thoughts on soft start up circuits vs. thermistors like the CL-90 .......

I've also used the AN Silvers and VH CUTF caps in the line board coupling capacity in both my AN DAC and L3 and surprisingly (to me) I've not been completely satisfied with either. I keep coming back .......

I'm not sure the pictures adequately convey the before and after but the opt tx shrouds do look considerably nicer without the stains . . .(I'm sure they will sound better too . . . not really :-)) .......

Do you know a good source for "low noise" dimmers as the lamp is plugged into the dimmer switch which is a separate unit that sits on the floor (ie size is not an issue)? A regular 2 pronged AC male c .......

Problem appears to be resolved. I some how missed that I mixed up the wiring between pin 1 and 3 in the AES/EBU input to the digital transformer. The "garbled" sound is gone! Thanks for all those who .......

I noticed this morning when I measured the resistance between the AES/EBU input connector pins and the DAC board that I may have inadvertantly switched pin 1 and 3 wiring to the balanced transformer. .......

I did not change the cap values on the digital power supply circuit. All the test point voltages on the board are within spec. TP1=5.2v, TP2=-5.2v, TP3=5.2v .......

I can hear the garbled sound when the volume is very low but when the "volume control" is increased the signal is louder as heard through the speakers and "masks" the garbled sound because on quiet pa .......

I have tried a different source. The noise is "heard" through the speakers but only when the DAC is in the chain. If I remove the DAC completely and only use the transport/CD player or another CD play .......

I've just about replaced every cap in the PS except for C2 & C4: the filament caps, since it is coming from both speakers they seem an unlikely culprit, and C10 which is the 4700pf 3Kz cap. Other poss .......

I use the 7119s in my L3 and the 5687s in my DAC. Primarily through extensive experimentation this is my preference. Unfortunately, changing the tubes hasn't addressed the problem including using tub .......

He (the AN kits dealer out of Canada) was asked and didn't know. Audio Note kits does not have a technical guy running the kit business and unfortunately rarely can help with these types of problems b .......

I'm using a choke and cap decoupling layout between my power supply and line board in a tube preamp. My question is I think I need about 80 to 100uf per channel as I'm using two separate 15H 30mA cho .......

I've currently got two opinions: The power supply is for a 300B SET monoblock. There is a center-tapped transformer 400v secondary connected to a 5U4G feeding a 150R resistor - then a 30uf 500v cap .......

Well, after doing some on-line research I'll attempt to answer question #2 and see if anybody is willing to chime in. Contrary to the above I now think the blue and yellow should be reversed. Assumin .......

Thanks for the input. Can you provide a good source for bulk OCC copper. I've done searches but can't seem to find either cotton or teflon insulated OCC in 22 to 26 AWG? Parts connection has occ bare .......
