1: Hi-Rez Highway, Re: Million Dollar Question : Is there a SACD player that excels in SACD & Redbook ? (0.00)

Take your Sony 685, and send it to Decware to be modded for $420. I have not heard a better player for under $2000. They add a class A tube output stage directly soldered off of the DAC chip. www.decw .......

Sorry, I dont have any equipment for measuring impedance. I did find out that my Sunfire has an input impedance of 10K, and I believe the Decware Sony has an output impedance of 100K. That's not a ver .......

I dunno. According to http://www.uneeda-audio.com/pads/ I am gonna need to get a ground shunt in there somehow and do some math I dont understand to figure out the resistor values. .......

I'm really not sure about the Sunfire, Cliff, but the Tube output on the Decware modified Sony is 100k impedance. I am sure the input on the Sunfire isn't nearly that low. Probably more like 25k *shru .......

I know by where I set my volume. Here's what I think is going on: I normally set my volume on my Sunfire at -45dB. When I plug the attenuators into the signal path, I have to turn the volume up to -15 .......

Is it that simple? I just "un-solder" the wire running to the output RCA jack, and solder a resistor in between the wire and the output RCA? That is something I can definitely handle if that's all I w .......

No, I'm not sure what they are. They are DESIGNED to be -1dB, but they change the volume in my system by almost -15dB. And however much they are actually attenuating, the purpose of them was to remove .......

That is something I could only handle with very specific instructions, like what exact resistors to use, and how to attach them. It would probably be better to leave this up to professionals, though e .......

Hi guys, I have a Decware modified Sony DVP-685. Decware added a class A tube output to it, that has a 3.5v output, which is just a little too much for my Sunfire Receiver's inputs, so I was getting d .......

http://www.decware.com/SACD/sacd.htm That's one to definitely consider. It does play SACD, of which I own about 30. And of the 30 SACD's I own, only two are multichannel. The magic of SACD comes throu .......

In that price range, I would stick to surge supression, and avoid power conditioning if you value harmonics and liveliness in your music at all. Power conditioning at that price level will make your m .......
