People have complained before about printing from the internet. I have had the problem myself. I solved that by saving the jpeg's to a file, then opening it with a picture viewing program like ACDSee .......

So you're saying that while my speakers may measure 'flat' with the test tones...that I would be hearing according to the appropriate FM curve I think so. You notice on the FM curve that at low levels .......

Your observations are right on. If your test tones were equal electrically, then they would be heard like the FM curve at best, with the addition of system losses. All speakers, equipment, and recordi .......

A power conditioner will not help. If BPL comes to your neighborhood, it turns everyone's wiring into a transmitting antenna, that will saturate your house with RF even if you don't subscribe. Forget .......

Their is a toggle switch that electricians use that they call a "4 way switch". Its really a reverse polarity switch that will do for your experiments and does not cost much. Their is a picture here. .......

I don't think foam tape has any ability to absorb vibration. You need "mass" in order to absorb like a bar of "duct seal". You can stick a thick layer on and it wont damage anything and removes easily .......

Every horn I ever measured with an LCR meter had a different Le reading. I remember mixing and matching 4 T-35's to come as close as i could. One can get lucky sometimes. .......

Are you able to test the crossover parts? The original capacitors would be pretty tired by now. A fresh set of Daytons or Solens would improve things a lot. Altec used 2nd order Butterworth filters an .......

Yes, I have used Scrubbing Bubbles on many old radio's and my Kenwoods with excellent results. Just spray it on and it lifts the dirt right out of any grooves on its own. Just pat dry with a paper tow .......

I didn't trust my abilities to line up a cone by hand so I made a jig underneath to hold it in place BEFORE removing the old surround. I used small "L" brackets and screw clamps along with 2 side carp .......

I picked up a pair of 9846's, very large on factory stands. The 15" drivers seems to need a lot of drive compared to the 511 horn causing me to turn the l-pad way down to nothing. Base boost is needed .......

Can you also test the wires you used with an LCR meter ? I always suspect the more expensive wires deliberetly color the signal (to some peoples liking) by using wire with high capacitance. Thanks, Ar .......

Hi Freddy, I couldn't find a chart but I'll try to explain the confusing terminology. The 8' stop on an organ has the same pitch as the piano with middle C being 261 hz. The lowest note on 8' is 2 oct .......

If you must have tolerance that close, you must use a good LCR meter, unwinding with the meter connected until its dead on. Then cut the wire. I wouldn't trust any calculations. Ive done this before, .......

The CDs using severe electronic compression are meant to sound good in cars and boom boxes. Your hi-end CDs will sound bad. I wish CDs were labeled "Car Version" or "HI-End Version" .......

Freddy, the 320's measure at Le=.1mh and Re=6.6 so the zobel is 1.5 uf cap with a 8 ohm resistor, easy. The impedance graph on that link showed it pretty flat so at first I didn't think it needed one, .......

Is that a single sub-woofer you have? They only work on mono-tracked bass. In stereo recorded bass you get phase cancellation right in the sub-woofer. It being additive or subtractive, some recordings .......

I can understand your scenario, but don't be quick to blame the recordings. 3 way speakers are the biggest offenders of phase shift and if yours happen to be 45d out, you may invert phase and prefer 2 .......

The 317 is known to have a hum problem that cant be fixed. The pre-amp section is divided around the power xformer. They just converted their 214 amp into an integrated. Kind of a hack job unbecoming .......

It means you need to do more tests. does the NAD have a headphone jack? If so listen to the hum in the headphones while unpluging inputs and outputs untill the hum stops. If its still humming with eve .......

I found that, more than once, with a set and discovered that the wires in side got moved around during the repair. If an audio wire comes too close to a power wire, you will get the same effect. Hopef .......

The 7s are a nice catch. They are very dynamic and efficient. All drivers have Alnico magnets. Specs are , 4 ohm , crossover 700 and 5000, max power 150w. The woofers are just connected in parrellel. .......

I had a similar problem with a speaker making a noise like that, and it ended up being caused by a loose bridal strap. That flexable little strap that goes from the speaker terminal to the voice coil. .......
