like every said. push/pull midrange and bass, slightly larger bass panel (thus a little more freq extension) - and that's pretty much it. I guess one pays a lot for the best. I say it's a good value, .......

I haven't heard the 3A, and nor have I compared the 3.6/R side-by-side with the 2.5/R. So take that with a grain of salt. The 3.6/R sounds much like the 1.6, which can be harsh and forward. The 2.5 (2 .......

Once we went front projection about 2 years ago, it make me wonder why we waited so long! I went from 36 to 92 inches. And when listening to music, it's nice to not have a giant box between speakers. .......

It's like with a turntable (not exactly!) but the redbook CD is missing the time data, this has to be "rebuilt" when the disk is played. Maybe if we bought CDs with WAVs on them, this would be differe .......

I'd say your ears would start ringing (between 20 miinutes to 2 hours depending on how loud it is and you personal senitivity) long before the 1.6s would be in any real danger. Especially if they are .......

I've noticed that maggies seem to need about one song (3-4 minutes) with heavy bass music to "loosen up." This is at the beginning of each listening session. Also .... I notice my tubes take about 1 .......

Rather than spend the $100 on a cheap sub,I'd do a sideways move from the MMGs to a MG-0.5/QR or a 0.6. These seem to go for ca.$400 used on audiogon, which is about the same price as a used MMG, more .......

it's just and analog representation of digital, that's all. The pits burned on the media are better defined (for lack of a btter word) at slower speeds. You are really compromising sound quality at 16 .......

1. No, but it it really should be. Most buyers aren't real record collectors or are super knowledgeable, so most do not. But the really good ones will ship them outside of the jacket, but with both in .......

I can't say about the IIIa, but I know I was never able to get the 1.6/QR to "bottom out", ever. We fed them full range with a Krell 300i. You could play them so loud that you could be vacuuming and n .......

The mgmc1 is probably worth the extra money if you are planning to listen to music and not just movies through your system. The mmgws are likely fantastic speakers, but remember they are single drive .......

buy I still prefer burns at 2x or 1x. Though for the car faster 8x or 16x burns are OK. Most burners I've used start to produce less fidelity burns at 16x or less. It just depends on how good your ear .......

the stock interfaces subtract low-level information. raising the volume seems to get around that. But it takes louder than life levels to do it (80+ dB SPL). you're probabaly still losing some low lev .......

the bandwidth and neutrality of both the preamp and source components. Also the gain and output impedance naturally need to be compatable with the tube amp. Sometimes this is where the Paul Spitz Zero .......

Runs just fine. Assuming the peak spl stays under 102-3 dB SPL you should be fine. (or 101-2 dB SPL for 75watt). What else do you want to know? Let me know and I'll answer what I can. .......

cleaner and more tranparent gain would help too. Especially with phono. Have a 5mv MM cart with only 40dB in phono gain {(inv_log[40dB/20])*0.005v= 0.5v}. couple that with a linestage with modest gain .......

there shouldn't be that great of a different between biasing values for 6550/kt88/kt90 tubes. 65 to 130 is too great of a variation IMO. But I'm no expert - just an end user. plus i think kt90s dissip .......

but 65mA for a KT90 seems sort of low. That might explain why you're not getting volume out of them compared with the 6550s. not sure on the break-in of 6550s but you might try putting 50-100 hours on .......

We were able to get deafening levels from a pair of 1.6s, a Krell KAV 300i intergrated amp, and an EVS millennium DAC 1 (3.5v rms output). The amp was "only" 300wpc into 4 ohm and and room was 8x11x15 .......
