Sounds like oxidation, not loss of contact. Pull the tube in and out a few times. For the volume pot manually turn in back and forth focusing on the region that "scratches" Just think of what you'd do .......

Maybe it's the difference between stark reality and impressionistic reality. I couldn't say one is better. My preamp uses a pair of 12AX7s (5751s) backed by a 12AU7 and some combinations seem to work .......

Jack, I've been listening to both the large and small O getters and they do sound different but I really can't put my finger on it. Could you elaborate on what you perceive as the character difference .......

Be careful! The bias instructions for my Cayin A88t indicated the opposite direction for bias increase. You certainly don't want to crank the bias to max before installing fresh tubes. Check the prope .......

Thanks Tom! I should say that after about 5 hours of listening, the tonal balance of the new Mullards seems to have equalized and there is no more upward tilt. They're a keeper. .......

Has anyone compared the Mullard 12AX7 Cryo to the non Cryo. While the Cryo exhibits a startlingly clear upper midrange and treble, it does seem somewhat tipped up and a little cold compared to my cont .......

I have a pair of Amperex 7316 Bugle Boys and 7316 PQs. The BBs have a large o getter and the PQs a small o getter. You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference in sound. I also think that Amperex are .......

I would suggest that the 7316 is anything but dull sounding, it's really quite lively. .......

I have a pair of the short plate Bugle Boys with large o getter and a pair of PQs with a small o getters. The current set up is with the PQs and the Siemens which sounds rather good, dynamic, extended .......

The Ei 12AT7EG is a beautiful sounding tube. Not quite as transparent as the Siemens 3 mica, but what is? It just has a liquid mid-range, good focus and the same perception of linearity as the Siemens .......

All Ken Rad 6SN7 VT-231s are not equal. Whether clear glass or black glass, parallel or staggered plates, some do not have copper uprights (plate posts?)but a silver material. On some the uprights ext .......

I'm sorry, I had a CL 35 Mk III and listened through a pair of full range electrostatics. Even through the electrostatic panels the bass was bloated and ill defined. I sold it and purchased a CJ PV-6 .......
