David, you are correct. The amps are 110W Class A push-pull. Yes I have tried experimenting with the different output taps, and I have borrowed a Paul Speltz autoformer and tried different multiplicat .......

Berlin, how would you compare the Brautigam to some other pianists? I only have the Angela Hewitt on SACD, and it was a bit of a sleeper. I also have full boxed sets by Schnabel, Gilels, and Ashkenazy .......

If you don't have much $, headphones win every time. $500 can buy you an incredibly good headphone setup and resolve an incredible amount of detail. Even a loudspeaker setup + room treatment at 10x th .......

I'm not the world's greatest tube rolling expert but I think that the stock tubes are actually pretty good. I replaced the no-name tubes (I think they are Chinese though) with some NOS RCA 6SN7's and .......

I am actually very impressed with this player. The only issue is that my Cary refuses to recognize some multichannel SACD's. Load one into the player and it will not even play. The same multichannel C .......
