Years ago there was a guy on ebay that did reproduction knobs and faceplates for the Consolettes. I believe he was out of Taiwan. They were perfect reproductions although they were made of aluminum .......

Two of them now repaired and working on the HV side. All doubler diodes, doubler caps ,HV caps-load sharing resistors and pitted blackened banana jacks replaced .HV wires and anode caps replaced. .......

Thanks for this information. The boards and component values for the amp, crossover and sub amp are identical. The only difference is that the silver one has the fan servo board and the black anodize .......

Hi, 1. If you are convinced that both transformers are causing your problems you may want to verify their integrity at a local motor winding repair shop and have them "meg out" or test for leakage res .......

I'm only suggesting this as method to troubleshoot. For my Model 3's the DD amps were never part of the structure so I use HV cable to tie the amps to the panels. .......

Up to 10kv test prod wire is readily available. You will be able to run 6-8' of cable between the amp and panel with banana plugs and jacks. This is what RM detailed to me when he was building and rep .......

If it were me I may not wish to change the grid resistors. This thing worked for years with out a grid resistor change. I'd very carefully examine the sockets and the PCB- clean the board and sockets .......

Maybe not, I would swap the amp from your other speaker before I drew that conclusion. Or , more work, pull the panels out and have a look- physically for peeling aluminum foil or some other culprit. .......

The diode may indeed be contributing BUT..... if the first cap after the diode is not rated for 500v or is failing this will cause your problem down the line as described. You need to check that cap. .......

Certainly High voltage like the polarizing for the Beveridges can "jump" in that environment with a spider web as described. Is the fuse on the primary of the power transformer or are the panels fused .......

I found C14 in the schematic.. it looks like filtering for after the diode bridge for the protection circuitry. I would not say it is critical I would check with one of the experts... if you wanted y .......

There were no photo flash caps in the H3- the output couplers are large computer electrolytics the size of soda cans. The instructions for the H3a monos would be different .......

You won't find a parts list anywhere. The machine is over 50 years old. For curiosity you could look to SAMs folders- I'm not sure if they ever developed one for this model. Futterman used many differ .......

I have not looked at the schematic. You may have a capacitor to ground that was used in the day to supress rf interference. This cap may have become leaky and is causing the problem. Try reversing you .......

I would also check for dc offset at the speaker terminals. put your MM on dc and on the lowest range, let the amp warm up and then take a measurement at both terminals.. Should be less than say 20Mv t .......

I agree with the VPI sounding lackluster. The Clearaudio in this price range is too pedestrian new and I just can't come to spend that much on a Rega but of your new choices it is probably the best. .......

You want a MK II for sure. There were 7 revisions as I recall. If you go on to the ARC data base you will likely see the difference between a MK 1 and a MK II in the board layout. MKI FP type caps in .......

They are all different. I like the ARC SP 3a-1 and SP8 and the Counterpoint SA 5.1. I am less fussy on the C22 (although I could appreciate why one would like it) and Citation I (I think I like the IV .......

I think Jim nailed it. Poor Socket tension, dirty sockets can cause this. Especially if they are original sockets or even the new chinese ceramic type. I assume you've changed out your coupling caps. .......

Sharp eye, I like to pull the original units and keep them aside .I use a replacement can for the rebuild. It's easier with no twisted tabs to re-insert and do a neater job without cracking the mount .......

Yep, The chassis of the citation is really 2nd rate and the capacitor mounting bracket serves a dual function in keeping the chassis from caving in. Anything you can do to physically minimze ringin .......

Well, the easy solution is to suspect the contacts on your input control are dirty.. try cleaning the switch with contact cleaner. However, I don't think this is your problem. Marantz of that vintage .......

The Sp-6 is a classic with a very nice phono stage. I used and still have it's cousin the SP-8. I have never experienced a transformer (you name them: Audio note, Cotter,S&B) to be as good as a proper .......

Radio Shack has part #271-1740 which is an Alpha part that will mount on the back of a standard potentionmeter it's rated at 3a/120v. I've used this sucessfully in other repairs for on/off volume cont .......

Hi, I have one of these made by Harvard Electronics. Futterman licensed these to Harvard& ,I believe Tech Instruments, to produce. Mine uses 6FW5's that are easy to get and cheap. Fun reading in Vinta .......

If you've replaced your coupling caps and re-worked your bias supply. Then retension your tube sockets. Try again. The heat in these things plays havoc with the sockets..replace them if possible. AJ .......

I have a Fisher x-101-b and a Mc225... the fisher is like listening to music through a wet sock...the mac is glorious...and I'm not necessarily a mac fan...but the 225 is ,I think, the best of the mac .......

Unfortunately, they won't do this. Apparently, it infringes on their UK/EU distributor...even their website mentions this somewhere. The transformer in the Ref may have dual capability you could purch .......

If your Mc30's are original...the item that you think is a capacitor is actually a diode for the bias circuit...change it . The 150ohm and 10kohm resistors are in powersupply circuit are 10watts.. Wit .......
