There are transformers to convert female RCA into male or female balanced or the other way around, made by Neutrik. They also have transformers to convert 75 Ohm coax SPDIF (BNC) into 110 Ohm AES/EBU. .......

First I'd check the TF is at 1.5 or 1.6. VTA should be flat or rising a bit tonearm's tail. If that's right and you find still no bass, check wires polarity. You might have channels out of phase, one .......

In fact AFAIK those cables are specially designed to match Dynaudio speakers. Here in my country they're very recommended for Dynaudios and there're many happy users. They work just OK with Dyns, don' .......

you stated that you burned CD-R's with the tracks. Maybe if you burnt the track coming from the FLAC making the conversion "on the fly" it could explain the differences. Otherwise being identical file .......

For my profession, I'm very sensitive to voice alterations and the Harbeth's didn't sound natural to me. I wouldn't say they're hollow in the midrange, maybe not as rich as the Spendors, but not exact .......

IMHO the Spendors are smoother and warmer. The Harbeths (read the designer's goals at their website into the FAQs, link at the bottom) are conceived more as studio monitors than music lover's speakers .......

You just need to set your multimeter on DC mode and plug its probes into the outlet, then you'll be able to read any DC it might be carrying. Just go from a high DC range, 200V for instance, and keep .......

Check if your AC line is driving some DC into your gear. Sometimes the input transformers hum when fed with DC from the AC line. You may try to isolate mechanically the transformer with some sorbotane .......

You're welcome. There are diferences, but they're quite small, the overall character of the 650-v3 and 600-v2 is pretty much the same, we found the former a bit more "hifish" sounding that the later, .......

You'd avoid any noise coming from the turntable/cart to be amplified and going into the speakers, this was what killed yours. If you don't have mute, then lower the volume to minimum for the same effe .......

that those are my impressions just regarding the midrange and from a memmory comparison between 300 and 400 but in the whole picture of the 400, the midrange is not recessed, it sounds like "warmed-up .......

You're welcome. If that reliefs the hum, then it probably is due to a ground loop. Try removing the ground connection of the male plug at the PC of the preamp, leaving only grounded the power amp, may .......

Probably it was a typo. MC in VdH nomenclature stands for Matched Crystal and only their gold and silver cables have it on their names. The D300 is a good cable, a step above the famous D103 which has .......

The Mahlers are supposed to get rather flat down to 40Hz in anechoic chamber (see Stereophile review and measurements, April 2000 issue). Their -10dB point is at 25Hz in anechoic chamber. It's all abo .......

Your dealer should have adviced you that Dynaudios don't match very well with tubes unless they're quite powerful and rather high quality. No source trial could have mended that. There are better amps .......

Without hesitation you should hear the Merlin VSM-MX, but they're a bit taller than 1 m. I wouldn't let that preventing my enjoying them, but you've your own priorities ;-) .......

I don't think so, I tried some MF amps with vintage JBL's 92dB/w/m sensitive and bass was quite muddy, perhaps a speaker with a better damped bass response could sound better. Also look at the impedan .......

IME MF tends to voice their amps with a kind of "fat" bass, but it also might be that you should re-position your speakers into the room, it's also my experience that different amps need slight speake .......

The Revelation are completely in another league than the CS122 or the Royal Jade which I owned for a time, both for the price were very good, but I really don't have a big experience with the CS122 so .......

Good advice, that's what I did when I purchased the VSM-M while having at home the SF Amati. This way you can compare, but it has other associated problems like the electronics matching perfectly one .......

Perhaps all you'd have to do is trying the TSMs with some Mc amps. The Merlins don't add extra warmth, but show the upfront character cleanly, if you need a warmer sound... The looks thing is another .......

As a VSM-M owner, ask Bobby Palkovic about his opinion. In my experience, the Cardas GR are the best cables with the VSM, but they take long to burn-in and aren't cheap. With less revealing speakers, .......

Here in Europe those speakers are much more affordable than in the USA. A pair of used Amatis go for the price of new Nautilus 802 or Vienna Acoustics Mahler, and IMHO there's no contest. New Amatis c .......

You're probably right. I tried some tube amps with mine and they sounded just right with the 4 ohm taps. But I'd try also the 2-4 ohm taps, the 2 ohms drop is at 60 Hz, which is an important frequency .......

Nope, I'm afraid you're listening to the "upsampling glare" most of upsampling CDP and DACs produce. That might improve with some good power cords, selected IC's, and further burn-in (about 200 or 300 .......

I own a pair of VSM-M (studio black with BAM) and I'm waiting for a new pair of MX. I find these speakers that good as to spend a lot for any subtle (or huge) improvement in their already excellent so .......

the phono stage in the 100 is superb, but I believe that a Joule Electra LAP-150 is a better preamp with phono (MM/MC) and has outboard power supply. Try both if you can, then decide. .......
