Saw them a couple times at the Omaha Blues Fest. They we were one of many great blues acts. They are actually out of South Dakota but there isn't a lot of Blues up there. Tim .......

It looks very similar to the ASR-120 Stromberg Carlson amp. The SC has an unused bias winding on the transformer- changing from self bias to fixed bias really makes the SC sing. Much better transient .......

I've never heard the reissue, but I have owned the original. The circuit of the 7 became the standard for nearly everyone ( with minor changes) and evolved exponentially. The drawbacks of the original .......

It's amazing- you took the words from my mouth. The same description I would have given. The Tele's are the best for fine detail but can be a little too "analytical" in some circuits. The Mullards are .......

I hope it's that simple- that makes it easy! Of course tube generators are pretty simple devices unless they have some sort of "output leveling" circuitry like the military stuff. A simple AC voltmete .......

If the changes in amplitude are slow and steady, it's probably a filter cap. If it is the hum will eventually show on the square wave also. Tim .......

I have some Russian 6n3cE tubes in one of my amps also. The E designates that they were ruggedized for military aircraft applications, or so I was told. I'm pleased with the sound as well. I can no lo .......

I've seen the same thing with the Mullard rectifier in the ST-70. Also a Telefunken (looks identical) that I ran across- much tighter all around. I'm using a Mullard rectifier, XF2 EL34's, Bugle Boy E .......

I've never heard the SE version, but I've had excellent results with the P-P version. They respond very well to upgrades. With an added choke in the power supply, boutique caps, metal film resistors, .......

There was a mod from ARC to improve the ST-70 and it used 6l6's. The reason for the 6l6's was that the replacement PCB had 7 tubes on it- 3 x 12AX7, and 4x 6FQ7. These tubes drew so much filament curr .......

for duplex applications like repeaters, where the transmitter is on simultaneously with the receiver, tubes are superior. SS amplifiers are "broadband" and as such have a much wider "noise bandwidth". .......

Probably not- since it is most likely being used as a reference for a voltage regulator, the output of the regulator would try to follow this 50% (!) change in voltage, and most likely would not have .......

A Zener diode is used as a voltage regulator and can NOT be replaced with a normal diode except in VERY rare occasions which I'm confident you will not see. A Zener works by virtue of negative resista .......
