IMO, unless you brush it around with a CF brush you won't realize how much dust there can be distributed across the surface. This is especially true for used albums that have accumulated a lot of fine .......

I do not believe brushes really remove dust from LPs though they can move it around. A carbon fibre brush will move all the dust into a line that you cannot remove but at least you can see it! I think .......

Very likely, when you hear hiss it is on the original master tape from an analog recording. If you hear no hiss then the recording was likely made all digital. Added dither noise in digital recordings .......

or are you asking about how NOS compares to sigma-delta? From a technical standpoint the difference is that NOS has no filtering whereas oversampling DACs include a filter. I've never heard a NOS DAC .......

Good point about ultrasonics 'over' cleaning. Kirmus shows that cavitation test using an aluminum foil disc that gets pitted by the cleaner and it needs to be 'just right' but can wear a hole through .......

Are you also MrChad from PFM? Best advice is to try them out if possible. The only other thing I can add is that I use ESL 57s with the DAC in a Wadia 830 CDP. That DAC is similar to the R-2R topology .......

Accurate rip tells you if the data on your CD is correct but the PC drive can re-read sections if necessary. Your CD player reads in real time with no do-overs so the acid test (IMHO) would be to comp .......
