From what I'm hearing, I'd definately go with the AD8066. I'm guessing the bypass cap eliminated some serious spurious oscillations as the AD8066 now sounds full bodied and VERY dynamic. The LM6172 so .......

When I was playing around with op amps in my old denon cd player, I tried the Ad826, Ad8066 and the lm6172. I much preferred the 8066 like 'dad'. It was just a lot warmer and easier to listen to...the .......

If you like the warmer sound of the BB's you can get a nice tube like sound from AD797's. For still better sound, and unlike most AD stuff you have the AD8066, perhaps the most perfect sounding opamp .......

The BB OP637 isn't an option unless you want to use two adapters. I'd suggest you take a look at the OPA2604, or the OPA2132. .......

Thanks. One thing I also noticed with the LM6172, is that it needs to be gain adjusted (smaller resistor), otherwise the output level is much lower than optimum. Is that the case with the AD8066? ::: .......

You would need to measure the rail voltage going to the BA4560s. If it's +/-15v or less, go ahead and install DIP sockets so that you can try a few different types. If it's +/-12v or less, try the AD8 .......

I have tried just about all of the popular opamps including the AD8066 when it was first introduced. The AD8620 is the most balanced of them all when used in an analog output stage. .......

Are you sure AD8066 is rated +/-12V ? The data sheets say it's 24V, and I don't think they mean it is the sum of the two rails, but each, otherwise all those cdp's supplying 15+/-V with the LC modules .......

The LM6172 can operate on as little as 5 volts. People making DIY headphone amps report good audio performance at 7 volts and even a little less. And definitely use the NPO bypass caps. .......

I wonder how the AD8066 would sound after 50 hours, I put some OPA2134 in a preamp and it took them about 30 to start sounding better also with LT1115 they took about 60 hours to sound their best. Ste .......

My verdict is that they are very good but lack some excitment overall compared to some other top opamps. Technically (specs), the AD8065/66 are probably the best (except for voltage ratings) opamps go .......

A socket will not allow the AD8066 to come anywhere near its advertised specs. As far as bypass caps, they need to be within 0.1" of the input lead, and with a socket in place, that you've already use .......

Hi I tried this op amp with adaptors in my Shanling CD T100 and the results are amazing. Later, I looked at this op amp specs and they specify no more than +13V and -13V. The shanling PS is +15 and -1 .......

Jeff, I've compared both directly, in a dac output stage, as well as a line level crossover. My recommendation would be the LM4562, now also known as the LME49720. Its a moderate slew and speed opamp .......

If you are after a smooth warm sound, go with the OPA2604 or AD8620. However, you will get more lifelife sonics with the AD825 or better yet, the AD8066. A word of warning however, the LCAudio AD8065 .......
