Vastly underrated..... Ashkenazy won't exactly win style points with a baton, but he's otherwise extraordinarily effective. The only composer he does *not* do well with (at least to me) is Rachmaninof .......

To me, most of Most's (not trying to be funny) performances have somewhat of a "monotonous" character to them.... I called his Beethoven Nine "docile".... His Brahms One is kind of the same. Full perf .......

I won't debate which style is proper, but the only example where I preferred the "rolled" chords were Debussy's and Ravel's own reads...... (I think due the read more than the playing.) The others gen .......

I personally like the original 1841 version of the Schumann 4 better than the more-common revised version. Wolfgang Sawallisch did an excellent one. .......

I don't think I've ever heard a pitch-corrected symphony orchestra before..... There is something very strange in the sound...... Absolutely perfect intonation, yet one of the most unbearable tracks, .......

Unless if I'm seated in the center of the first few rows [-; , I'd opt for Hahn. The few times I've heard her I was more-impressed over her adaptation to various composers. It's a quality I don't hear .......
