Try an AT120E/T, they work very well on linn stuff, I personally don't think the bearings etc are good enough on the Basik Plus to make the most of a fine line stylus. My dad uses this arm and has had .......

Do you have the Hi-Fi News test record or else a Shure Audio Obstacle Course test record? They provide a means of testing arm/cartridge resonance. Testing is the only way to know your system's resonan .......

Given that the SME 3009r has an effective mass of 12.7g, your resonant frequency will come in at 8.3hz. This may be fine, or it may not, depending on your turntable and the stand on which it's located .......

The Grados are the best I have heard (mine is the 78c) and I also own a Stanton 500. The Stanton is good, but the Grado beats it. FWIW, I have not heard the Shure but I don't see how it can track prop .......

Yes, the TD160 is a good table. However, with such an old table, sample to sample variation will be tremendous. Some things that can go wrong: bent motor spindle, rusty spindle bearing, loose/worn ton .......
