Having owned the the audiolab and the arcam 85a not 65 I would say that the arcam blows away the audiolab. I'm not sure what the 65 sounds like. But I'd go with the arcam just because of reliability, .......

I had that Music Hall cd player with an Arcam A65 plus and JM Labs Chorus 706 (titanium tweeter) and it sounded very dynamic. That combo had punchy bass and the sounds had a solid quality to them. Kar .......

My dealer in Canada sells both and prefers Creek Audio - but a preference is just that. Back when I had Arcam I liked that my Arcam had a bit more impact (punch) - the Creeks were sweeter in the midra .......

I would suggest a Naim Nait 5 integrated, if you want an integrated amp. I've listened to both Bryston and Arcam, and in my opinion the Naim outclasses both. Good luck .......

Yes, The Audiolab 8000A is over-rated, but I didn't feel that the bass were too thin. I compared it with a Denon PMA-560 and an Arcam A75+. The Denon and the Arcam were both better. Y. .......

I don't use my Arcam headphone out.. plugging My Grados directly into the Source works Just Fine Mate.. I leave the Amp turned OFF. But if you must.. it sounded almost the Same thru the Amp as Directl .......

just bought a used pioneer elite vsx14 ht. sounds quite nice. my arcam a85 has a much tighter, detailed, insightful but is much leaner sounding. i would think the rotel would be in this direction but .......

Yeah... the tone controls are certainly a nice feature I need since I tend towards lower volume at dinner time and like to add Bass. I am not disounting the NAD... just looking to see if the Arcam fit .......
